Theoretically, it would be possible for students to study at home. Advances in communication technology have made it easy for students and teachers to communicate with each other without being in the same building. Many homes now have computers which students could use to keyboard their essays and other work. Alternatively, education authorities could supply students with computers, which are cheaper nowadays. The work could be send to the teachers by email. Teachers could read, mark and send the assignment back to the student with their comments.
They could also send further assignments and answers to students' queries and problems by email.Lots of information is available on the Internet. With a few strokes of the keyboard and clicks, students could access any type of information they could possibly want to know. The only problem is finding the exact information online quickly is not always possible. Students would have to be disciplined and smart enough to not waste too much time on irrelevant facts and searches.
It is possible to let students work at home, but would it be a good idea? Personally, I think this is not the best idea. For starters, students do not have the best self-discipline. Not many students can work as hard as they would in school with the distractions online.A disadvantage of studying at school would be the lack of face-to-face conversations with the teachers.
As we all know, it is much easier to understand explanations of something when communicating face-to-face.There are also a few typical things that students cannot experience by just studying at home. Studying with many classmates in an educational environment not only brings useful information, offers a chance for interaction with various people but also creates motivation for them to learn better. Information comes from both technology and people around. At home, by using a computer or by watching television, students can accumulate a variety of information.
At school, by discussing ideas with friends or asking teachers for help in exercises, students can enrich their knowledge even more.In conclusion, the traditional school is not only about students acquiring facts and passing exams. It also helps them to improve their social skills by interacting with other students and teachers. This is why studying in school is better than home-based studies.
