In my dealings with various people, I make this resolution of radiating a positive impact which might not be as dramatic as a life changing one but something that will convey my optimism, energy, and passion.
Through the course of my employment with educational institutions, I have been fortunate to been bestowed the opportunity to influence the lives of other people through leadership roles. I have always taken this opportunity not only to accomplish the tasks at hand through my acquired knowledge and skills but also win the respect of my colleagues through my character.From 2002 to 2004, I have been appointed as business manager for Herman Ridder Intermediate School at Bronx, New York. Recalling my experience in that designation, I can say that it has been one of the most challenging roles I have ever fulfilled. This post not only required me to plan, implement, and oversee the budgetary system of the school but also manage the workforce in the department. In order to function efficiently, I recognized that this job requires the fulfillment of two essential components namely, coming up with a strategic budget and the implementation of the budget.
I have come up with the notion that if I fail to do any of this two, our team will never accomplish our organizational goals. After realizing this, I began the tedious task of planning and reconciling the budget of course with the aid of my colleagues. Next came the delegation of specific tasks and monitoring progress at preset intervals in order to make sure that goals and targets are being met in an efficient and timely manner.The team effort come into fruition as we are able to realize our objectives and even surpass expectations.
I believe that my success as a business manager in this institution is in a large part due to my ever cooperative team members who are more than willing to share what they know and all the help that they can do. In order to win their dedication, I employ interpersonal skills in order to earn their respect first. In my leadership strategy, I always realize the humanistic nature of an individual.As I have also worked for my superiors before, I know that each lower level employee desires to be treated not just as a means of production but as a human which should be motivated through the fulfillment of his needs. Thus, I reach out to all the team members in order to have an idea of the hardships they are facing and how these challenges can be addressed.
I am also very open to suggestions because I strongly believe that I can learn a lot of great things by listening to their ideas.I believe that the experience I imparted above will make me a better team member at Jones School. Having been able to surpass a very challenging task in that designation, I am confident that I will also be able to handle the challenges in this institution. I believe that my capacity to employ analytic skills, plan, and back them with efficient implementation will be a also be a significant contribution. Through my interaction with people from different background, religion, culture, and even values, I have gained a more open mind which eliminates my tendency to discriminate.
Also, the things which I have learned through my discussions and relationship with my colleagues instilled with a greater sense of appreciation to other people’s ideas and contribution. The experience at Herman Ridder Intermediate School becomes a foundation in honing my leadership skill while at the same fortifying my character. In intend to bring a positive impact at Jones School. Recognizing that learning process is from womb to tomb, I know that I have yet to learn a lot of things in life while contributing my knowledge and skills to become a model of excellence.
