"Do the right thing even though the world is against you" means even though someone is telling you to do something they aren't always right.

You also need to choose what's right even if it means going against the majority. Some examples include:• Saving the Undertaker• Choosing if he wanted to help Worm when she was screaming at the gang-bangers• Max the Mighty was always in conflict about choosing the right thing to do over the wrong thing to do.

Do the right thing, even if the whole world is against you!

Since she wasn't able to say goodbye she had to do something that symbolizes closure. It was her way to establishing closure with the death of her father. By dropping the miner's light down the miner's shaft, Worm was helping her dad find the "light "and helping herself move forward with her life.

Worm's mom continued to lie because if she chose to tell the truth then Martin would have killed or hurt her. She was probably scared that she would have died if she did not lie. She thought if she lied she would be protecting her daughter. If I were her I would've told the truth and then she needed to get out of that situation and get help.

Max agreed to go on the adventure because he did not want to leave Worm all by herself. He wanted to help Worm find her real dad.

He wanted to make sure worm got to the right place. Max made a good choice because it ultimately made him a better person, even though he risked his own life to do it. If I was him I would not have been as brave as him. He wasn't able to save Kevin so he decided that he wanted to save Worm so he wouldn't lose his second best friend.

In the beginning of the book Max did not have confidence in himself because he thought he was dumb. He thought he was not a whole person without Kevin.

At the end of the book Max uses his physical strength to remove that heavy beam and saved the Undertaker. Everyone else was telling him to run but he risked his life to save the Undertaker. He had more confidence in himself. An example of this is when Max says "Max the Mighty can stop him".
