Differentiated Instruction
A method of teaching that allows students alternate ways to understand concepts and to provide evidence that they have learned- Direct instruction model (Rosenshine, 1979) Teacher utilizing direct activities clearly stated goals, coverage of content, classroom time spent on task, performance monitoring and immediate feedback

How you change to meet needs:Content—what we teach - each group can have different content How you teach it: Process—how students come to understand and obtain knowledge and skills- Whole group to small group- Power point, manitplatives How they show you what they have learned:Products—how students demonstrate what they have learned-Tests/ project/ ect.
What are three things you consider of the learner when differentiating
Differentiate in response to learner:- Readiness (for a particular idea or skill at that time; adjust difficulty) ability level - Interest (intrigue for a subject or assignment)/ what they like - Learning Profile (learning style, intelligence, student talents) how learn best
Example of how to differentiate
- Clarify key concepts and generalizations that serve as a foundation for learning- Use assessment as a teaching tool to extend versus merely to measure instruction - Emphasize critical and creative thinking as a goal in lesson design - Develop lessons that are engaging and motivating for a diverse class of students; that is, vary instructional activities- Provide a balace between teacher- assigned adn student- selected tasks- Match to students instruction but dont dumb down
what is cooperate learning
( An independent, or collaborative, instructional method) Cooperative learning is a successful teaching strategy in which small teams, each with students of different levels of ability, use a variety of learning activities to improve their understanding of a subject.
Each member of a team is responsible not only for learning what is taught but also for helping teammates learn, thus creating an atmosphere of achievement.
how can cooperate learning used in the classroom
