And fed into the vertical puller through conveyor. The waste paper bales or pulp bales are fed in via a conveyor to the puller and repulsed by adding process water. Water is added for slashing and the whole content is agitated to make pulp from the waste paper. The puller rotator (agitator) ensures the disintegration of waste paper fibers. Some systems process only one batch at a time, while others operate continuously, such as repulsing drums used for waste paper. This pulp is then sent to the sand trap for removing the sand.

. The puller rotator (agitator) ensures the disintegration of waste paper fibers. Some systems process only one batch at a time, while others operate continuously. The pulp is taken to the Decker drum for increasing the consistency of the pulp and subsequently stored in the Chest. Alum, rosin and other additives are added at this stage and then it goes to the paper machine.

The pulp from this chest is pumped through a single disc refiner and stored in the machine chest. Now this pulp goes to a three stage centric-cleaner to remove the knots and other impurities. All impurities, bigger than the fibers, are separated. For this purpose, the fiber suspension is pumped through a pressurized screen at a pressure of approve. 2 bar (29 Isis) at approve.

ICC (12200. The material flows in tangentially along the surface of rotating screen cylinders with holes or slots. The screening machines have an inlet, an outlet for good material (accept) and an overflow for sorted out material (reject). The separating efficiency is defined by the hydraulic pressure of the screen, the dimensions of the holes or slots and the quantity of reject. The paper machine has 3 principal stages: Head box, the heart of the paper machine.

After dilution and screening in the approach flow the suspension consisting of fibers, additives and water must be fed uniformly in web width to the screen part of the paper machine. For this it is pumped to the head box via a tapered manifold flow spreader as well as several pipe manifolds. Pressure and speed must be constant in these areas. The gravitational and vacuum De-watering stage I.

E. Wire pit - here pulp is fed at a consistency of around 0. 70% and when the paper goes out of this stage the consistency becomes around 20%. I) The mechanical De-watering stage. I.

E. Press Section - Here the paper with 20%consistency (80% moisture) is squeezed through a set of press rolls (having 2 rolls in each set) to get 35% consistency paper (65% iii) The final moisture content of the paper rolled on to the pop-reel is moisture). Around 5- 6%. The paper from the pop-reel goes to the reminder for making reels in required sizes and then it goes to dispatch Section.

Industry Scenario: The paper industry in India is more than a century old. At present there are over 700 paper mills manufacturing a wide variety of items required by the consumers. The Indian Paper Industry is among the top 15 global players today, with an output of more than 6 millions tones annually with an estimated turnover of RSI. 150,000 millions. (approve.

USED 3400 million). Paper Industry in India is riding on a strong demand and on an expanding mood o meet the projected demand of 15 million tones by 201 5 & 22 million tones by 2020. These paper mills are manufacturing industrial grades, cultural grades and other specialty papers. The paper industry in India could be classified into 3 categories according to the raw material consumed.

1. Wood based 2. Agro based & 3. Waste paper based The number of wood based mills are around 30 and balance 670 mills are based on non-conventional raw materials. The Gobo.

F India has relaxed the rules and regulations and also De-licensed the paper industry to encourage investment into his sector and Joint venture is allowed and some of the Joint ventures have also started in India. The paper industry in India is looking for state-of-art technologies to reduce its production cost and to upgrade the technology to meet the international standards. The domestic paper industry has received an unexpected boost in its near term prospects as prices revive and are expected to remain buoyant in the According to industry sources, Indian paper manufacturers, coming quarters. Specially large integrated paper mills with captive pulp production facilities, would e insulated from the high international prices of pulp and would see margins improve on buoyant paper prices. Paper mills have been hit by the demand slowdown since October 2008 in line with the economic situation.

This also coincided with a capacity addition of about 4 lake tones by large players such as BILL, Babushka and TIC. Over the next one year, three large mills will add another 4 lake tones to their production capacity, including West Coast Paper Mill that will add 1. lake tones, Andorra Pradesh Paper 70,000 tones and Tamil Undue Newsprint and Papers 1. 5 lake tones.

However, with the recent reports of a pick-up in activity across various sectors the paper manufacturers are optimistic about demand reviving early next year. These would primarily be from the academic and IT segments. For now the available inventory and anticipated additions to capacity are driving competition among manufacturers and pushing down prices. Some relief is expected in 2011 and 2012 when no large additions to capacity are expected.

The mills expect the projects in the pipeline to be in place by 2010.This would provide a breathing space of a couple of years for the market to stabilize. According to industry estimates, the total paper demand is about 94 lake tones a year with packaging contributing to about 24 per cent and newsprint 20 per cent. Other major segments are stationery 10 per cent, commercial, promotional and printed advertisement items 15 per cent and books 10 per cent. Based on a growth rate of about 10 per cent in recent years, the industry expects the additional capacity to be absorbed over two-three years once the economy gathers steam.

A large number of expansion programmed & expansion of capacities with an outlay of RSI. 0,000 chores have been announced covering the various sectors like paper, paperboard, newsprint etc. The Indian Economy is progressing well and targeting 8%+ growth. The economic reforms coupled with the liberalized Government Policies, India today offers excellent business opportunity for investments. The new millennium is going to be the millennium of the knowledge.

So demand for paper would go on increasing in times to come. In view of paper industry's strategic role for the society and also for the overall industrial growth it is necessary that the paper industry performs well. The Paper industry is a priority sector for foreign collaboration and foreign equity articulation up to 100% receives automatic approval by Reserve Bank of India. Several fiscal incentives have also been provided to the paper industry, particularly to those mills which are based on non-conventional raw material. Outlook : The demand for upstream market of paper products, like, tissue paper, tea bags, filter paper, light weight online coated paper, medical grade coated paper, etc. , is growing up.

These developments are expected to give fillip to the industry.Indian Economy is expected to continue to grow rapidly over the next 5-10 years providing continued momentum to the paper industry. Jake Boozy forecast that paper production would be more than double by 2020 to reach nearly 19 million tons, of which 60% would be in the packaging grade (I. E. Test Liner & fluting) while paper consumption is expected to grow at a similar pace (graph).

This could lead to a 6 million ton increase. Demand of Packaging Paper would be thus 7 million tons by 201 5 against present production capacity of 4. Million tons leaving a clear gap of 2. 4 million tons inviting huge investment, therefore. [pick] Threats; Internet threatens the paper products industry, as it has become the new market channel (such as,) for many companies. Email marketing campaigns and online banner ads has reduced the demand for traditional print advertising.

Print advertising now includes newspaper and magazine production only. Newsletters, articles, books are now available online and that that has reduced the use of print services.Apart from Internet, cell phones can also be used to access news, and other information, which poses another threat to the paper products industry. With low per capita consumption of paper in the country, coupled with the government's thrust on education, the domestic paper manufacturing industry is set for a giant leap in the times to come Given that the current era is termed as the 'knowledge era', the demand for paper is set to scale strategic growth in the times to come.

Although recessionary pressures led to sluggish growth in various sectors, paper has performed much better as compared to other sectors.
