Macbeth are both key features of the development of the themes in this play. At the start of the play, one of the witches say "Fair is foul and foul is fair", this basically is the representation of Lady Macbeth and Macbeth in regards to Lady Macbeth is originally a foul, greedy, manipulative woman who tries to convince her husband to commit murder to become king. After this, she then becomes remorseful and sorry for doing what she has done.Macbeth on the other hand, was hesitant at first but then slowly grows into someone who doesn't feel bad at all and doesn't think twice when covering up his tracks to become king. In Lady Machete's soliloquy, she says "unsexes me here" which meaner she wants to take away her femininity because she wants to follow through murdering the king. She does this because back then, women weren't the ones who were looked to as murderers and they didn't have the traits to commit murder.

She calls upon an evil spirit to change her into someone who was basically heartless. She believes that what she is doing will make the prophesy come true and Macbeth and her could live happily ever after. She manipulates Macbeth into thinking what she wants to do is right and Macbeth, being the less dominant one in the relationship, believes her and decides to change his attitude and go through with it regardless of his own morals/ choices. As we read further into the play, we see Lady Macbeth slowly change the ways she acts, although she is the one who pushed Macbeth to commit the murder, he starts to realism it was wrong and starts to feel remorse. In her soliloquy in act 1, scene 5, she says Mimi wait on natures mischief" which basically translates to, muff are ready to assist in upsetting natural harmony; this is, in carrying out evil".

By her saying this, we see how determined she is to go through and get what she wants. She acknowledges that she will be upsetting natural harmony and there is a chance of getting caught, but regardless, she wont stop until she gets what she wants. Macbeth on the other hand is opposite. He says in his soliloquy in act 1, scene 7, "l have no spur to prick the sides of my intent, but only vaulting ambition, which overlaps itself and falls on the other". When he says this, he admits that it is only ambition spurring him on. He doesn't want to actually kill king Duncan, he admits this when he says "borne his faculties so meek" which is where he admits to king Duncan being a good king where he used his power so humbly.

Macbeth originally was a DOD person, then he developed into someone who doesn't care about who his hurts to get his way.He slowly changes into someone Lady Macbeth forces him into being. Macbeth and Lady Macbeth if compared from the start of the play to the end of the play have swapped roles completely. From Macbeth being fair to foul and Lady Macbeth from foul to fair, and these soliloquies express and show the development of their character and kick start a chain of events that lead Macbeth and Lady Macbeth to their downfall.
