I am extremely honoured to have the chance to address you in this prestigious moment when our institution, St. Cyrils College celebrate the National Science day. Our institution is synonymous with commitment to academic excellence which includes, a keenness to promote, and even celebrate knowledge. We believe that knowledge is an affirmation of our humanity and an exercise in social health. I am indeed very happy to talk to you on the occasion of National Science Day, which is celebrated on the 28th of February every year, the day in the year 1930, Nobel Laureate Sir CV Raman announced a landmark discovery.

On this day, the nation pays tribute and expresses its gratitude to all the scientists who have made our dream of using the science and scientific discoveries, a reality. Every year, a different theme is selected. As in previous years, the focal theme for the year 2014 is “FOSTERING SCIENTIFIC TEMPER”. It will be the time to inspire the young minds for new scientific inventions for the welfare of human beings.

The duty which is conferred up on me here is to welcome everyone to this meeting Our chief guest this year, is such a wonderful person who doesn’t need a formal introduction at all. I consider it is not only my privilege but the honour for our entire college to host him as a dignitary and the inaugurator of our priceless function today. I cordially welcome Sri. Nooh Bava IAS, the assistant collector of Pathanamthitta to this meeting. Next, I feel happy to be with our Guest speaker who is having a passionate commitment to knowledge, research and extension.
