The field of nursing has long interested me because I find myself compassionate about providing care to sick individuals. I think that the field of nursing may serve as a way for me to help individuals especially during their most difficult times when they experiences illnesses and accidents. I am aware that the training required to become a nurse is challenging. It will involve taking courses in math, and mostly science, such as anatomy and physiology, I have to manage between attending my courses and doing practical training hours especially in the higher years.I also know that a nurse has to be alert, calm and quick to deliver the services that the patient needs as well as being sincere and caring. Despite the academic and personal demands of studying to be a nurse, I am still willing to undergo such rigorous training in order to reach my dream of becoming a nurse.
I would like to be a nurse because this is the best image I can envision myself performing in the near future. Nurses are an essential component of every healthcare facility.They serve an important role by providing assistance and technical activities that will facilitate healthcare management of a patient. I am aware that there is a shortage of nurses in the global level, mostly due to the increase in the human population all over the world (Westerndorf, 2007). I am also very concerned of the need for better healthcare programs for the elderly, since they urgently need proper care during their last precious years on this Earth.
I have a soft spot for the elderly, as I am very close to my grandparents, and I would want to have them be cared for and attended to by competent and caring nurses which are why I see myself working with the elderly in the future. I believe that the elderly deserve as much healthcare services as children and that it is our responsibility to give back to them the care and guidance that they have given us. There are so many choices of profession for an individual, yet the field of nursing has the strongest appeal to me and my personality and capabilities.The relevance of being a nurse in a healthcare facility strongly attracts me, and I have been greatly interested in joining the field of healthcare and help save lives.
I know in my heart that being a nurse is my purpose in life. Even if the popular notion that nurses only become nurses because it is highly paid, I would rather think differently and believe that nurses are the most caring and compassionate people.
