People today are still frightened to say the name 'Macbeth' because of its evil, demonic associations. They only refer to it as the Scottish play, as it talks about evil and witches.Macbeth struggles with his conscience on whether to kill Duncan or not: "Hath been so clear in his great office, that his virtues will plead like angels, trumpet-tougues against the deep damnation of his taking off," Near the end of the play Macbeth has become king and a cruel tyrant that has changed scotland into a country 'Almost afraid to know itself.' This sounds like no one in scotland is proud of their new king.

In the final scene Macbeth is described as a 'Devil', 'hellbound', a follower of satan and a 'rarer monster' There are no better names for a man who murders women and children.We hear that Macduff is the only man that can kill Macbeth and when Macbeth hears this he is reluctant to fight. "of all men else I have avoided thee, but get thee back, my soul is too much charged with blood of thine already"Macbeth is not afraid too see the witches, "Speak, I charge you" He demands that the witches speak to him.Once the witches tell him the three prophesies they leave and Macbeth tells Banquo what they said to him " you shall be king." He doesn't seen too happy, Banquo says to him " Good sir, why do you start, and seem to fear things that do sound so fair?"Women in Shakespearean times are seen as unimportant.
