Election is like a race, one has to prepare and train for success. It’s an opportunity and political circumstances that can affect the outcomes of a political candidate. Jane Bitzi daughter of former Governor Joe,” aka Big Daddy”. She is running for Governor of Texas and is a conservative Republican. Jane’s stands for many of us! With success comes much hard work and dedication.
She’s a former developer of a software company, and a local West Texan. Regional Support The Cultural and regional support will directly come from a white republic population. The Geographic regions where Bitzi will prosper and have more support will be in the pan - handle and the south plains (Newell, Prindle & Riddlesperger, 2011). “The Republican Party has historically been weak in the areas around the southern Texas Mexican Boarder. Also the Golden triangle or cities of Port Arthur, Orange, and Beaumont have been associated with weak republican support”. (Newell, Prindle & Riddlesperger, 2011).
The three major political cultures of Texas politics are moralistic, traditionalistic, and individualistic.According to Newell, “ Moralistic culture Citizen share the value or interest among each other. “Most dominantly this type of culture is noted to be in the northern regions of The United States”. (Newell, Prindle & Riddlesperger, 2011). The Individualistic can be most attributed to the political culture of Texas. The culture seems to prefer a marketplace of selfishness.
“This is more of a free for all of government, participations is found in this culture but only as a means to ensure self betterment. The use of government to take care of others is frowned upon and wealth redistribution is discouraged”. (Newell, Prindle & Riddlesperger, 2011). The traditional culture, “ citizens believe in democracy, they are not encouraged to participate, also ethnic or religious groups are discourages”.
((Newell, Prindle & Riddlesperger, 2011). I strongly believe Miss Bitzi will not have many votes in this group or region. Demographic Support The voter that will to support Jane Bitzi will be white Anglo in certain regions of Texas. This voter is educated and religious.Big Daddy’s daughter will be voted by wealthy white religious southern section of Texas, also she will have supporters that also voted for her Father. Campaign Themes A focus that will affect Miss Bitzi from winning will be the melting pot in Texas.
According Newell, “ 2010 census, showed increase in Texas’s Hispanic population, Hispanics are the great majority of whom are either Mexican or Mexican American ( Newell, page 33). Concentrating on historically beneficial voting regions, the data of people workforce and economic situations can have drastic effects on the outcomes of this Political election strategy.Accurately planning a strategic foresight to enhance the voting outcomes of regions and populations will demonstrate positive outcomes for this candidate. This campaign will have to focus on getting the votes of the minority groups, since they are more open in there opinions.
Bitzi will have to concentrate on creating more jobs and improving health- care for all. She will have to boost the importance of financing and increasing taxes so all can benefit during this period of economic recession.Political Issue or Private MatterPolitical issue such as a domestic violence involving Jane’s opponent can help her votes. Using this comment as a trick to appeal to the minority groups, thus decreasing the votes of her competitor. Citizens would question why the case was never reported; they would not want to vote for an abuser and basically side with the favorable, Jane Bitzi.
Win or Lose? The Anglo republican will win this race and have the position of governor. As mention in the early chapters by Newell, the more education and financially well off the individual, the more likely they are to vote.Jane’s chances of wining are good. Facts about job creation and economic data will tip the balances (Garder, 2010). Jane will not only have the votes of newer citizens, but she will also have the votes of those that voted for her father, former governor, “ big Daddy”.
The mix of both traditionalistic and individualistic will make this a campaign with similar voting patterns as seen in the 2010 governors vote. The border states will be the lower support counties. (Stilies, 2010)
