Islam and Peace

Islam, as seen by a larger majority of the world’s population is a growing faith, but this is not because of its juicy principles that attract the larger majority to join it, but because they are left with no better option but this, among the choices of death, exile and forced conversion.

There is no such thing like living in harmony, peace and mutual respect with an individual proclaiming a different faith for an Islamists. They at all times have cherished supremacy in number and influence via any means, violence being one of the options to achieve this.Islamic religion is by no means not peace loving and most of their actions are worrying and only serve their own selfish interests. For instance, over the last 1400 years, Muslim Jihadists have murdered in cold blood more than 300 million non-Muslim believers.

They have also participated in the destruction of several Christian churches in the Middle East which is a Muslim dominated region; the same applies to North Africa where they have left a trail of destruction.This animosity between Muslims and other religions has led to the death of over 60 million Christians, 80 million Hindus and at least 10 million Buddhists…in this context Islam is seen as a killing machine, and not a peace loving religion, unless the term peace has a different meaning to what it has all along meant (Smock, pp. 27-31). The claim that Islam is a violent religion does not go well with die hard Muslims who refer to Islam as a “Religion of Peace” (Talal, et al.

p. 149). The term came into play after the 9/11 attack in an attempt to isolate Muslims and Islamic Terrorists.This is a sarcastic move as it is known to everyone that all even though not all Muslims are terrorists, but all terrorists are Muslims and if the Islamic religious leaders were against the violent acts, then they could have been doing more to root them out of the face of the earth. The term Islam is derived from the Arab word aslama which means to surrender and not peace as it has been misinterpreted by many.

The Muslims have surrendered to doctrines which are intrinsically violent, thus being the force behind terror, evil and unjustified war.Islam is a harbor of elements that fuel insecurity and instability with only little traces that favor peace, it therefore can never pass for a peaceful religion. Islamists have mastered the art of violence so well that they start to cultivate it in the brains of youngsters at a very early age and by the time the children come of age, they are already brainwashed and indoctrinated to appoint that they hold nothing important apart from their corrupted doctrines (Chaiwat et al. pp. 19-20).Terrorists have handed Muslims the worst public-relations picture.

All the most wanted criminals of terror happen to be Muslims and capturing them has also become a near impossibility because of the protection that they receive from Muslim dominated nations that play host to them. If at all the religion is serious and committed in rooting out insecurity from the face of the earth, then such related incidences would have been unheard of in the religion.Some organizations with Muslim roots like the AIR (American-Islamic Relations) Council have denounced terrorist acts, condemning them to evil atrocities against the innocent; this is seen as though the Muslims just want to be perceived as lovers of peace rather than the main source of insecurity, by keeping their main intention hidden from the public. Sending condolences and apologies do very little to help victims. “After the 9/11 attack, there was dancing, jubilations and massive celebrations in and around Palestine” (Spenser, p. 32).

Does this pass for lovers of peace? That is a question to the Islamic Peace Advocates who are criss-crossing the world spreading “peaceful and goodwill messages”. That is an attempt to show that they are really committed in seeing into the end of the terror groups, the organizations should use their influence and ability to contact the insiders of the wrath and convince them or talk them out from carrying such activities.The peace advocated for by Muslims seems only to exist in the Holy Qur’an and no single Muslim seems to practice it; asked about their view on peace, Muslims give several quotations that depict them as lovers of peace but their actions the world over show a contrary picture. “The Qur’an talks of forgiveness, equality and respect to all mankind regardless of religious or cultural affiliations” (Chaiwat et al. , p. 3); the Jihads and the Holy War which are both fueled by Muslims give a different standing to this principle.

The three principles which are regarded as the basic pillars of the Islamic culture are being violated by the top leaders of the movement and one may wonder if at all the doctrines mean anything to them. If the above values could be followed as stated in the Qur’an or as the so called lovers of peace claim, them the world would have not been such an insecure place that the Islamic Terrorists have made it to be.To justify the claim that Islam is a peaceful religion, Muslim advocates are trying to distance themselves from terror groups by saying that “only a cross section of Muslims are engaged in violence in the name of Islam and to see their non violent part, the world has to clearly see the distinction between Muslims and Islam by viewing Muslims in the light of Islam and not the other way round” (Abou El Fadl, p. 43).

This explanation indicates that even the Muslims themselves agree that Islam per se is no lover of peace and Muslims are trying effortlessly to disassociate themselves from them. Islam is a violent and intolerant religion representing the dark ages, it is probably the worst religion that every found its way into humanity… “Islam is like an insult to humanity” (Spenser, p. 135). Their war like conception of Holy War and Jihads meant to restore high moral standards [the Muslim way] are nothing close to what they claim, but an insane violent military action which amounts to terrorism.Peace in the Muslim context means embracing their religion and as long as there is any other religion other than Islam dominating the region, then the location is considered a Dar-ul-Harb (battlefield). Islamists will therefore strive as much as they can to either drive the non Muslims away from that land or slaughter all of them.

To Islamists, innocence to them means upholding their beliefs and principles. “Analyzing Islam in the historical or current status leaves no doubt that the religion is an embracer of hate and unfounded enmity” (Smock, p. 35).An incident which occurred in Indonesia hit world headlines and shook peace lovers, but this was no news to the Muslims themselves who have grown accustomed to such inhuman acts.

The report contained in (Benazir, pp. 245-246) revealed that Christians in that country were forcefully ordered to convert to Islam or get their throats slit. Once converted, they were sexually mutilated by removing their foreskins and clitoris using razors and kitchen knives as dictated by the rigid Islam laws before they are recognized to be fully conformed to Muslim standards.To the world, the news was a disturbing revelation, but to Muslim followers, it was business as usual.

The sad legacy of oppression, terror, murder, brainwashing and lies has been in force in literally all Muslim dominated societies; they believe that imposing their beliefs on individuals is the only way out to achieving global subjugation and conversion in this personal struggle to rule the world.For critics who hold different opinions to the one taken in this paper and still believe that Islam is a peace loving religion, let them have a stop at Benazir’s highlighted cases “in Algeria where Muslims killed over 100,000 Christians, in Nigeria, in Kenya where they have declared war against the government, in Turkey, Sudan, Eritrea, Armenia, Somalia, Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine” (p. 248-252)…the list is endless. What kind of evidence does the world need in order to accept the fact that Islam is a killer machine?Radical leaders are hiding under the cover of Islamic faith to openly carry out assaults to even the most peaceful and democratic nations. Look at the Hamas and the life of the Palestinian people? The pictures got from these incidences indicate nothing close to civilization or peace by any known standards.

“Muslims claim to be fighting for Allah’s sake, not for their own good and will do all to that effect even if it calls for martyrdom…what is meant by martyr in the Islam context is offering oneself as a suicide bomber to kill the innocent” (Spenser, p. 45). As long as their quest is tolerated, incenses like the bombing at Pan Am, World Trade Center, Marine barracks in Lebanon, Military barracks in Saudi Arabia, American Embassies in Africa, USS COLE bombing, Munich’s 1972 Olympics attack and many more will prevail. Islam is traditionally based on violent principles and comprises of elements of supremacists. New converts regardless of age are taught maters related to warfare and subjugating to non-Muslim believers.

Even though a good percentage of Muslims do not find it hard to engage in violent acts, it is possible to come across Muslims who are peace lovers and eliminating the violent jihad nature should start from within. The Islam members who believe in peace should take it upon themselves as a responsibility to teach their brothers to shun jihad operations. The anti-Jihad efforts should start and be driven from within the Muslim community who appreciate peace and accommodate individuals from every affiliation.Talal noted that “not all Muslims take pride from persecuting others and are therefore genuinely committed to practice Islamic principles as spelt out in the Qur’an--a religion that will promote coexistence with other believers in peace and harmony” (Talal, et al. , p.

147). Efforts to achieve genuine reforms among Islamic community is facing great opposition, particularly from the Islamic radicals who also receive massive backing from the religions theological.Moderates get little or no support from the Islamic legal system and instead of the reformers being viewed as advocates of peace, they are be branded traitors and their moves be taken as attempts to scrutinize Islam (Ramadan, pp. 66-67). The public have been kept in the dark concerning the true practices and beliefs about Islam. This paper highlights reports from different sources that have all along remained hidden; the true interpretation of the myths and beliefs of Islam as well the acts of the Jihads.

Islam is no lover of peace and promoter of coexistence, and it will remain to be so for some years to come. Thanks to the radical Islamists who embrace terrorism and any act related to violence coupled with individuals in the society who find it hard to live together with others who proclaim different religious following within the society.Conclusion From the evidence contained in this paper, Islam comes across as a religion ruled by fixed minded individuals. A movement that instead of promoting growth and development, it is campaigning against civilization and promoting oppression, war, poverty, misery and ignorance among its followers and non followers.Islam’s most significant characteristics are Guns and Qur’an. Spenser puts it clear that “over 95% of conflicts in the world are being initiated by Islam waging war against non-Muslims” (p.

147). It would therefore be unfortunate to call Islamists peace loving. If Islam truly loved peace, then the more than two million Christians would not have fled the Middle East and the never ending conflict between Muslims and Christians would be a thing of the past.In summery, this paper holds a clear view that Islam is no lover of peace, but a militia group dominated by people of intolerant and indecent characters whose sole objective is to stir up violence and revolt. Where in the Islamic religion does peace dwell if their standing principle advocate for war through jihad? How peaceful can Islam followers say they are yet they maim, kidnap, murder, kill and persecute those who hold freedom of choice? Fundamental Islamists believe that no soul which does not proclaim Allah as the only God is worthy of living…freedom of worship/religion is a far off dream in Islamic doctrine.

Calling Islam a peaceful religion is therefore out of place. But one thing is certainly clear, that the Qur’an is clear and promotes modesty among humanity. Therefore if the principles outlined in the Holy book are followed to the latter, then there should not be any trouble or difficulty for the Islamists to uphold peace. But, until this is done, Jihad and Holy War will persist and so will be the sowing of the seed of animosity and civilization conflict in the world.
