One song says that a picture tells a thousand words.
Primarily because the main aspect of having a visual material under scrutiny can provide a significant value of thought depending on how a person looks upon it. Truly enough, pictures increase the capacity of a thinking mind to go out from the limitations of logic and reasoning to achieve the full freedom of imagination. To better reflect on how visual understanding comes across the mind, this particular project uses an image of a young boy who deliberately wants to study something, most probably of academic content, while keeping up his current dilemma of doing business on the street.The scenario primarily provides a very strong message about the plight of some individuals to accommodate two tasks just to achieve a simple form of fulfillment, to have a decent education. The composition of arrangements of things in the image provides contrasting ideas.
The child is hoping to complete a supposedly written article or drawing, which pertains to education, while having objects of capitalism in the form of snacks for selling. On a technical note, it is also important to take a good understanding of how the image impacts the visual senses of a viewer.Apart from the relative meaning of the material, it is also crucial to study the technical factors which make the picture present a clear image. The relative shapes of materials being captured by the image denote a very rigid aspect of life which includes the edges of the food container and the lines of the street-to-wall edges.
These aspects are somehow balanced by the contours of the child’s clothes together with the full front curves of the kid’s shoe sole. As a whole, edges and lines superimpose the main shapes of the image.In terms of size, proportionality may be considered to be achieved. The exact framing of the image provides at least equally mandated spaces for the food container items and the child. Although in real life the container somehow has a biased fixed size compared to children, in this image it was regulated to match the figure extent of the child element.
Color also comes to be an important factor in image definition. It provides the process of identification of object details (Japan Assoc. of Remote Sensing, 1996).Here, a play of several colors is to be seen.
Red, brown, gray, yellow and white can be dominantly identified. However, the whole picture indicates a hue of darker tones because of the relative background effect of the concrete material. This is followed by the lower container’s tone and the jeans of the child subject. However, the snack materials and the upper clothing of the child provide an embossed color effect separating them from the entire bland color background of the image’s remaining parts.When it comes to individual parts analysis, the image capture seems to focus only on two elemental figures, the snack item and the child. Most probably, the photographer wanted to lift the two subjects to deliver ironic messages of labor and enjoyment or child play and work.
One last attribute which can be analyzed from the image is in terms of texture. This aspect plays a very important role of defining the physical characteristic of objects in terms of visual presentation. In the picture, the texture of coarseness was eliminated by focusing the camera lens to the subjects.This provided a very sharp lighting effect for the child and the snack items. It is very obvious that farther portion of the image leading out of the child’s position becomes a little blurry making the portion seem rough. This compensates the extreme contrast achieved in focusing on the subject materials.
