Born on August 13, 1899, Alfred Joseph Hitchcock was an English producer and film maker. He was the pioneer when it came to several methods in the psychological thriller and suspense genres of films.

He moved to the world of Hollywood after he had a successful career in the United Kingdom doing silent films as well as early talkies.Hitchcock went to London County Council School of Engineering and Navigation. After graduation, he became a builder or draftsman and advertising designer in a cable corporation. It was during these times that Hitchcock became intrigued and fascinated to the world of photography.He then began to work on a film production in London.

He worked for a title-card designer in London, a branch of what would in the future become the Paramount Pictures. He began designing titles for silent films for five years and then went on to become a film director after his title designer stint.He kept his British citizenship even when he became an American citizen in 1956. Gallows humor and suspense became Alfred Hitchcock’s trademark in his film making career.

His native land of United Kingdom has also been a favorite location for his American films as seen in his penultimate movie, Frenzy. He made different types of films during his career even going to romantic comedies during the 1940s.Hitchcock was delighted in cracking technical difficulties and challenges in film making. He saw these challenges as means of making his films more creative and striking.

He also had some cameo appearances in his own films usually portraying his overweight figure in a bizarre manner. Alfred Hitchcock has directed more than fifty feature films throughout his career of six decades.
