“Goal setting is a key to achieving success in any endeavor. It is very complex to know where one is going if one does not know where to go. Everyone needs goals to be enthused, grow or increase performance especially with strong goals. ” One goal that I’ve started 2nd semester is to improve my work ethic even more than before, to be able to earn high honors by the end of my junior year.

I also will try to involve myself in any activities that I can, both academically and socially, so that, again, I can graduate with honors. The reason why I do this is because I plan on going to college, and I would like to be able to get accepted into any school that I apply to. To begin, my first goal statement for my U. S.

History class would be to obviously, start working harder than I have been working the past semester. I’ve noticed that when I look at my notebook, there are things that have been slacked off. For example, I’ve been slacking off on creating a title page for each unit we’ve learned. This hurts my final score when my notebook is checked, because I lose format correct points. This 2nd semester, I’ve changed that by making sure to work on my title page as soon as I receive new notebook agendas. Another part of my notebook I’ve made a goal on is to spend more time working on the assignments given to me on the agenda.

To be able help, I have changed some of my “behavior modifications”. This 2nd semester I’ve changed the way I go about the rest of my day, once I get home.Instead of watching T. V.

immediately when I get home, I would start on my homework, with an hour of fully working on my studies, then a 15 minute interval break. I would then repeat the process until all my homework is finished, which is usually in about 3 hours. This way I would be able manage my time relaxing wisely, while also getting things done. This would be my overall modification for my work ethic/behavior at home for the rest of the semester, and year. Another way I can plan to improve my grade in U. S.

History is to actually start looking at the news, so that when a news quiz comes, I’d be ready for it.Overall, for my U. S. History class, my plan for the rest of the semester AND year would be to stop slacking off entirely, improve my work ethic in class and at home, and study for upcoming news quizzes and tests a week prior.

Next, my second goal statement for this school year overall still goes along the lines of the previous paragraph; to be able to improve my working behavior, not just in U. S. History, but in all the rest of my classes: College Algebra- To stop sleeping in the middle of class lesson, when the teacher is teaching English- To participate more, and remember to bring my book to class when instructed to. Jazz Band/Band- To practice my instrument (trumpet) in my free time Chemistry- To lessen my socializing with classmates, and pay more attention to the tasks at hand given by my teacher.

For this school year overall, I plan to strive harder in academics, and lessen my need for games, T. V. , and other distracting hobbies.By looking back at my past grades, I have seen that in result of me slacking off a lot, that my grades have had a steady and gradual drop.

But, now with this new plan and goal setting, I believe that, by the end of this semester/and year, my grades will show a steady and gradual incline; from B’s to A’s and A’s to A+’s. With this new plan, I’ve been able to realize my strengths; an academic hard-working ethic (once given motivation), and determination, and my past weaknesses; easily distracted, easily slacking off, and small attention span.I believe now, that with this goal setting, I will be able to change, thus increasing my strengths, and getting rid of my weaknesses. To able to improve them, I would just have to find the motivation to just do the opposite; instead of being easily distracted, I’d take small breaks every hour I work, instead of slacking off, I’d challenge myself mentally to strive harder, and have my goal in mind to “work hard for a good future”.

I see my goals as tangible, and they are well within my reach if I stretch my arms to touch them. I work hard for these things not only to make a good life for myself, but to make a wonderful life. Setting goals for myself prevents me from becoming sidetracked, and it allows me to push harder and further for my aspirations. If I maintain my focus and constant great work ethic, nothing will ever defer my future goals.
