I found an advert from Diskeeper Corporation extolling the virtues of their defrag tool. It is meant to defragment the hard disk in real time and ensure that the speed of the pc is not compromised due to scattered files. I liked the advert because of the brevity of the message (only 3 points in less than than100 words) and its preciseness. It got straight to the point without giving the whole sales pitch.

Using just 4 different colors they were able to give the advert some life as opposed to splashing color all over or making it too dull by adopting a grayscale theme. The price of $29. 95 has a psychological effect on customers making them feel that the product costs much cheaper than $ 30. People will tend to think of it costing ‘some $ 20 plus dollars’ rather than ‘about $ 30’. Analyzing the advert, I would say it scores highly in the areas of message delivery and in targeting their audience.

However the interesting thing about the advert is there is no ‘money back guarantee’ displayed. To improve on the advert I would suggest a free trial period be developed for the product so that customers can use it and buy it later on if they are satisfied with its performance. The original advert may have omitted the money back guarantee clause for ease of work. It is likely that they will get many claims from people that the tool did not work when in reality the pc was at fault. Thus whatever the cost, the company should develop a high degree of trust and integrity with its publics.
