The authoritarian rule anchored in traditional practices such as sexism and believes that a woman is a lesser gender are being forgotten and done away with by various societies in the world. Many societies are embracing democracy and valuing women as equally important as men.

The continual of emphasizing of men rights only while neglecting women rights is also becoming more unacceptable culture in many societies. Recognition of women right is at peak. It has come to many societies sense that the role of a woman is of great help to them. The oppressions against women have in the past been based on cultural and religious beliefs.

Some societies believed that a woman should not be involved in certain roles in the society such as leadership, technical and skills requiring careers. Women were perceived as a people who should remain at home, cook for the family members, wash clothes for them, clean the house and ensure the wellbeing of their husbands. In fact, in some societies, women were not allowed to participate in any economic activity. They were supposed to entirely depend on men and be subjective to their orders without questioning. Men were viewed as talented, and strong than women.

Oppressing a woman was perceived as a right to a man. However democratic revolutions have come with more light to the world. Rights to the women has seen recognition and emphasized in many societies. The process has been long but of positive impact to many women in the world. More literatures has also been written calling for more rights to women, voting for women into the national assembly, and calls for men to yield rights for women. Others have also been emphasizing on education to girl child as compared to boy child so as to reduce inequality in terms of education between men and women.

The world has also witnessed rise of prominent woman public figures who has been key spokeswoman for all women nationally and internationally. Campaign to help women be aware of their deplorable fate as well as their rights they have gradually lost in the society. Others have been calling for key figure to defend women in the world. (Dougles n. d. p128).

Civic rights activists and NGOs have also been key players in ensuring human rights and democracy. The democratized societies have also been involved in fostering democracy in societies resistant to democracy.Through economic and political sanctions, democracy has been embraced by resisting authorities. Democratic revolutions discussion cannot be complete without mentioning the role of the media. The media has been exposing authorities which have not been observing human rights and opposing process of democracy. It has also been inciting citizens to gang against authorities which have not been ready to give in to democracy, where voice is given to majority.

Various changes demanded by De Gouges have occurred and lead to rise of democratic societies. They consist of political associations which endeavor to conserve natural and imprescriptible rights of men and women where liberty, security, property, and freedom from oppression being the main rights. Such societies consider nation as the union of woman and man and authority should be derived from this union. Liberty and justice entail bringing back what belongs to other which is enforced by the law and reason. Law prohibits acts harmful to the society.

Both men and women are well represented in the national assembly.Women and men are treated equally before the law. The employment, positions, and honors are equally available to men and women based on capacity and requirements of such opportunities. The only obstructions owe to talents and virtues.

In such democratic societies, no women is exceptional; in case of committing a crime, she can be arrested, accused, detained and judged by the law equally as man could have been done. The punishment to a convicted woman is also based on the set laws. Such societies encourage freedom of expression and communication to both men and women. This is very precious for women as they can communicate of any oppression from the men. (Dougles n.

d. ) Women are also guaranteed of their rights by the law. This guarantee is also meant to be of benefit to the society at large. Women also have same share as far as distribution of positions, honors, employment, and jobs. Such a society allows both women and men to verify necessity of public contribution. To foster this, women are given equal opportunity in public administration, acquisition of wealth, decision making in the policy making bodies.

Democratic society’s constitution clearly provides for guarantee of rights. Drafting of such constitution is a process that involves majority of the individuals who comprise the nation. Such societies also ensure that property is owned by both sexes. No one is deprived of acquiring certain property based on sex. It is only under reasonable grounds, acceptable to all, such right is deprived. Prejudice, superstition and fanaticism against women do not exist.

The voice of the majority is emphasized in democratic societies.Representatives to people are guided by the interests of the voters and the obligations of such representatives are outlined by the citizens. In such societies, equality is part and parcel of all people. It softens their manners and how they treat one another. No special treatment for specific gender, boy child and girl child are offered equal opportunity to education. Employers give equal career development to both men and women.

It is all equality and respect for all. (Dougles n. d. ) Democracy is also ensured by well established institutions.

Laws are very clear as far as marriage institution is concerned. Husband and wife roles are well stipulated. State, education, judicial systems and other institutions are established for the welfare of the majority. They dictate how individuals should relate fairly with one another, and act in ways which cannot harm the other not withstanding the sex of the person. Both women and men are equally and acceptably represented in economical, political, religious, educational, and other institutions. Both genders play a big role in setting up and running these institutions.

Workers and employers relationships are guided by acceptable laws set by the majority. Any oppression to workers is unacceptable. Workers’ working conditions are clearly stipulated by the law. The welfare of the workers is highly recognized. They are considered as important players of the society.

Employers are also protected by the law against any unfair behavior from the workers. Any unreasonable act by the workers against the employers is also unaccepted by the law. It is a democratic society. In most contemporary societies where rights of all are respected not withstanding economic class, gender, education, and so on, women have been given equal opportunities as compared to their counterpart men in economic, political and social spheres of life. They have also been empowered to enhance their participation in social, economic and political spheres of life.

It in such an environment the role of women has gradually been changing to include all spheres of life-include economic and political role.Democratic world have witnessed rise and participation of women in various sectors of the economy. The technical fields where women could not in past venture, has become part of their career, say it, computer, mechanical, civil engineering, piloting, and so on. Field of mathematics, which was also dogmatically set apart field for men, has been ventured by women. We also have women who own big business organizations in the world. They have become admirable entrepreneurs who can excellently combine labor, capital, land and entrepreneurial skills to big business organizations.

The field of medicine has also been ventured by many women. They have been equally competing with men and today the world can count on women as key players in this field. (Tocqueville n. d.

) Women role in political world has been also been vivid. Democratic societies (e. g. America) have sought to ensure that women are well represented in national assemblies where policies and laws are made. Laws are also set to ensure political parties and other institutions have a certain participation of women as compared to that of men.The governments are also sanctioned to position women is certain political post the society.

Terms such as affirmative action in the work place have been emphasized by many democratized countries. They are strictly followed and checked by the government authorities and organs. Women have also been very vibrant and successful in vying for high political posts in various democratic societies. For instance, Germany Chancellor Angela Dorothea Merkel, Former prime minister to UK, Margaret Hilda Thatcher and current U.

S.A secretary of state Hillary Clinton are good examples of how women have greatly participated in political sphere. (Tocqueville n. d) The democratic revolutions have been a long process.

It has also been embraced by many societies in the world. Institutions have also been established to guide this democratic environment. Backward culture that discourages recognition of women rights and as key players in the society as it was during Dickens Hard Times, are also fading in democratized societies and those societies undergoing democratization process.Responsibilities of women is not only to perform indoor cores; take care of children, wash clothes, clean the house, cook and other homestead cores as well as receiving orders from men (husbands) – includes also political and economical roles. Tocqueville would say this is due to democracy which has empowered women to become key players in political, social and economical spheres of life through education, access to property, and offering equal opportunities as compared to men.
