A single mother traverses several miles in order to reach the Land of Opportunity.

She has left her entire life behind, in hopes of a better future for her children. Besides the socioeconomic problems she faces due to her class standing and her status as an immigrant, she also faces the issue of not being able to speak the predominant language of the country. What is she to do, stop working in order to go to a school that offers no flexibility and doesn't cater to her specific needs? Without a basic understanding of the English language, she faces being ostracizes by society ND put in low-paying laborious Jobs. That's where I come in. I have plans to start Connect The Dots.

I am writing to you today in order to ask you for the funds to start this project. It is a for-profit language learning school which will cater to low-income immigrants who are struggling to learn English. There will be teachers on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. From the day I was born, my life had been filled with a certain type of music.

It was the mixture of Spanish and English flowing through my ears. Learning the two engages simultaneously has allowed me to see all the different colors of the dialect.Spanish and English were my ways of creating a beautiful picture. My mother, on the other hand, could only supply the brush. The colors would simply not stick in her eyes. Her thick accent was like a warm blanket, enveloping me in its familiarity and comfort.

To others, the sound was that of a song slightly off key. It was understandable but unpleasant to the musically-trained ear. Seeing her work long hours, with her only source of English learning being a Country music channel, was a beefing time in my life. The day she was able to perfectly pronounce Jason Alden's name with no issue or hesitation was the day my life changed. The absolute Joy and pride in her face at being able to pronounce those two words correctly was something that has stuck with me for the rest of my life. I decided then and there that I would start a program such as Connect The Dots.

One of the biggest issues in the United States as of late has been the influx of immigrants. Many of them have no basic understanding of the English language. In 2012, about 50 percent (20. Million) of the 40. Million immigrants ages 5 and older were classified as Limited English Proficient. There are people in the country who believe this to be a product of laziness and unwillingness to learn.

L, on the other hand, believe this to be the result of lack or resources. Many immigrants do not learn English because of the simple fact that they cannot afford the classes. I have seen prices upwards of $260 for one session. Anyone would quickly get discouraged.

Connect The Dots will offer hands-on learning for a standard price of $60. People who eave had to sign up any sort of class can see that this is an incredible deal. With the program being affordable, more people will be encouraged to try their hand in it. Another major problem that arises with non-English speaking immigrants is that there is simply no time in the day to go to school. Many are working long hours and have at least one child to watch over. My own mother is still waking up at 7:30 in the morning to go work a factory Job.

Connect The Dots will offer classes 2417. Whether the classes are online or if the patron finds it easier to go to the centre, there will always be a teacher there to help them out.Connect The Dots will work with the patron to fit in with their schedule. Flexibility will be a major component of the school. The main goal of Connect The Dots is to give immigrants a chance that many people deny them.

Learning English can give them an advantage in life and in this country. All I ask for is a loan of $60,000 to get the centre started. This will help cover the building lease, hiring the first teachers and ordering the course materials necessary. Connect The Dots wants bring the one world together, one dot at a time.
