Why I Would Love To Visit Greece I am a person that loves to travel around the world, and I am a passionate lover of world history. These two reasons are what drive me to save money and embark in travels that amaze me, and give me the opportunity to experience the beauty of Earth.

Also, since playing a video game called “God of War” I have been enamored by the world of mythology. Summing these reasons, there is a place that has the qualities of great history, beautiful geography, an amazing cuisine and the born place of mythology. The place that I would love to visit is Greece, because it has the sums of these qualities mentioned above. Greece has one of the most beautiful and complex geography in any country of the world. It is located in the southern portion of Europe, and it boasts the twelfth longest coastline of the world. Eighty percent of Greece consists of mountains, of which the great Mount Olympus is the highest in Greece.

This country has a very vast collection of islands, which includes 2,000 of them. That alone, is a big reason to go to Greece because we have a lot to explore around this country, inside and outside. History in Greece has been the reason of why this country is so amazing. It is the birthplace of democracy, the Olympic Games, political science, major scientific and mathematical principles, university education, and coinage. It is also a founding member of the United Nations. Greece has been home for the Persian Empire, the Byzantine Empire, the Macedonian dynasty, and the Komnenos dynasty.

Greece became independent in January 1, 1822 from the Ottoman Empire, which later was converted to a republic. Greece has been the birthplace for a lot of brilliant people like Socrates, Plato, Alexander the Great, and Archimides. Mythology is one of the reasons that most people visit Greece. This country is the birthplace of the fantastic world of Greek mythology.

Apart from serving a religious function, the mythology of the ancient Greek world also served a cosmological role as it was meant to try to explain how the world was formed and operated. The principal gods of the ancient Greek religion were the Dodekatheon, or the Twelve Gods, who lived on the top of Mount Olympus. The most important of all ancient Greek gods was Zeus, the king of the gods, who was married to Hera, who was also Zeus's sister. Apart from these twelve gods, Greeks also had a variety of other mystical beliefs, such as nymphs and other magical creatures. Greek cuisine is as an example of the healthy Mediterranean diet.

Greek cuisine incorporates fresh ingredients into a variety of local dishes. Some dishes can be traced back to ancient Greece like lentil soup. Greece people often enjoy eating from small dishes with various dips such as tzatziki, grilled octopus, and feta cheese. Olive oil is added to almost every dish. In conclusion, these reasons are convincing enough for me to plan my next trip to Greece, and I know that I would have a lot of fun. The trip will be tedious and exhausting, but when I get there it will be worth it.

Maybe, when I visit Greece I will fall in love and make the decision to stay to live there, and that would be amazing.
