-name -from -husband in medical school -I believe all students can learn
Why did you go into teaching?
-honesty -why I fell in love with teaching -because of experiences working with people who lacked an education -i saw it as a power

-relationship oriented -high expectations -consistency -considering how acting out might be tied to my instructional decisions
How will you teach to the standards?
-use CCSS, NGSS -use evidence based research (from ILA) -lean on knowledgeable mentors
What would it look like if I walked in during ELA time? What would I see?
-whole group instruction -guided reading groups or book clubs -literacy stations (where students are working through the writing process system, -you could find me in a guided reading group working with 3-6 students on specific skills OR me taking informal assessments through individual conferences and running record assessments -buddy reading as well as individual reading
How will you reach all students with diverse needs?
-lean on supports found in my school and parents -know their iep -include them in instruction and classroom community
Tell me about a lesson and how you planned it?
-guided reading lesson about text-to-self examples (1st grade) - asked teacher what reading skill would be within students zones of proximal development -she said making text-to-self connections bc they pull a reader into a text and help students see how characters can relate to them -I planned with the reminder that this is what I want kids to walk away with -tied this to a ccss -tied to students zone of proximal development - after labor day weekend I chose "When the Relatives Came by Cynthia Rylant" b/c after labor day -prefaced story before, asked questions throughout, students turned and talked
Tell me about a difficult situation and how you handled it?
-3rd grader reading at an instructional level of a kindergartner -talked with her current and past teachers, talked with reading recovery specialist, -got her tested and the supports she needed

-iPads as tools to collaborate and discover (ex.Padlet)
