1 object that describes Hutch
I chose a baseball for one of my objects because it was Hutch's favorite sport. Hutch was the main character of this book. He had a dream to go pro for baseball as a shortstop. His dad had once played professionally, but
unfortunately, he was not good enough to stay pro. Hutch loved to play baseball and his dad was a huge supporter for Hutch. Baseball was one thing that really connected him and his dad.
1 object that describes the setting
I chose a sun for one of my objects because he lived in Florida. Florida is an extremely hot state. Hutch had to play all of his baseball games and practices under the beating sun. The sun effected Hutch throughout the book. He would have to be taken out of games from hydration. The sun was one of the few challenges in the book.
1 object that describes an event of the plot
Another object I chose was a trophy. This trophy symbolizes the time Hutch and his team won the Post 226 championship. Although Hutch did not play shortstop when they won, he was playing second base. Hutch didn't complain too much about playing second base showing that he had confidence and courage. Even though Hutch was upset with Darryl for taking his place, they still became friends. The trophy shows that hard work can pay off.
1 object that describes an event of the plot
Another object I chose was a ladder. I chose a lad because Hutch was always increasing his game like he is climbing a ladder. He would practice with his dad and always tried to improve. He would try to improve enough to the point he was better the Darryl. Darryl stated over Hutch for shortstop forcing Hutch to play second base. Darryl was predicted to go pro but Hutch believe he could be better the Darryl.
1 object that represents the main conflict
The last object I chose is Bop-IT. I chose a Bop-It because no matter how hard Hutch tried to be better then Darryl, he couldn't beat it, just like you can beat Bop-It. This was the main conflict in the story because Hutch dreamed of being a star shortstop and not a second baseman. Even though Hutch couldn't beat Darryl, the team still went on to win the championship. Although Hutch did overcome this problem and him and Darryl became best friends. Hutch continued on playing second base.
1 object that describes the character
I chose a hat to describe the character because he took his baseball hat everywhere he went. He took it on vacations, school, and to friends houses. He believed that every good baseball play wore there hat with pride. He thought that it doesn't matter if you start or not, he only believe that if you had a hat, you were destine to be on the team. Throughout the entire book, Hutch was wearing his hat. This hat is one of the main objects Hutch used.
