Glossary of Terms – NC Teacher Evaluation System

the fourth of four performance leels used to rate a candidate's proficiency on elements of the standards

a product used to demonstrate a teacher's candidate's performance or proficiency

the standards of professional conduct required of educators and adopted by the NC State Board of Education

the second of four performance levels used to rate a candidate's proficiency on elements of the standards

age appropriate knowledge (reading, writing, comprehension, skills) in any particular content area of field

discrete statements of specific competency that collectively reflect a performance in the rubric

a paragraph that describes in detail one constituent aspect of a performance standard, 25 elements

a statement reflecting a domain of professional practice against which educator performance is judged, 5 seperate standards

collegial group of adminstrators and school staff who are united in their commitment to student learning and who work in an environment characterized by cooperation, personal growth, and a synergy of efforts

the instrument comprised of standards, elements and descriptors used to evaluate preservice school executive performance against the NC Professional Teaching Standards
