is the most common approach to women's history, a form of making amends for generally leaving women out of history. Primarily biographical, the great women's approach

this form of history asks 'what did women contribute to great movements throughout history, like abolitionism or progressivism. women in the context of overall historical events.

history holds that women have always been opposed and looks at ways they fought for basic things, like the right to education or control over their own bodies. but this history form neglects the way women overcome oppression in their own ways.

a form of history that compares what women were told to do (prescriptive) and contrasts it to what women actually did (descriptive)

a history that acknowledges that biological differences lead to gender differences and attempts to examine women's history seeing it as a whole different culture.
