The thirteen colonies in the United States are, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. Each one of them has their own story characteristics that I’ll be listing them in the following paragraphs. Massachusetts was founded on 1630 by John Winthrop and others. Their major industry consists of fishing, corn, livestock, lumbering, shipbuilding and their major cities are Boston, Quincy, Plymouth, Salem, Lexington, Concord.This colony was named for the Massachusetts tribe , the word means “large hill place” and it became a state on February 6, 1788. New Hampshire was founded on 1638 by John Wheelwright and others.

Their major industry consists of potatoes, fishing, textiles, shipbuilding and their major city is Concord. The colony was names for the country of Hampshire in England and it became a state on June 21, 1788. Connecticut was founded on 1636 by Thomas Hooker and others. Their major industry is wheat, corn and fishing, and their major cities are Hartford and New Haven.

This colony was named from an Algonquin word, quinnehtukqut, "beside the long tidal river" and it became a state on February 6, 1788. New York was founded on 1626 by Peter Minuit and others. Their major industry is ship building, iron works, cattle, grain, rice, indigo, wheat & their major cities are New York City and Albany. This colony was named after the Duke of York and it became a state on July 26, 1788. New Jersey was founded on 1664 by English colonists.

Their major industry is iron working, lumbering and their major cities are Trenton & Princeton.This colony was named after Isle of Jersey in England and it became a state on December 18, 1787. Pennsylvania was founded on 1682 by William Penn and others. Their major industry is wheat, corn, cattle, dairy, textiles, papermaking, shipbuilding and their major cities are Philadelphia, Lancaster, and York. This colony was named after William Penn and sylvania, Latin for "forest" and it became a state on December 12, 1787. Delaware was founded on 1638 by Peter Minuit and others.

Their major industry is Fishing, lumbering and their major city is Wilmington. This colony was named for the Delaware tribe and for an early governor of colonial Virginia, Lord of the Warr. It became a state on December 7, 1787. Maryland was founded on 1633 by Lord Baltimore and others. Their main industry was Ship building, iron works, corn, wheat, rice, indigo and their major cities are Baltimore, Annapolis.

It was named after the Queen Henrietta Maria of England and it became a state on April 28, 1788.Virginia was founded on 1607 by John Smith and others. Their main industry is Plantation agriculture (tobacco, wheat, corn) and their main cities are Jamestown, Williamsburg, and Richmond. It was named after England's "Virgin Queen," Elizabeth I and it became a state on June 25, 1788 North Carolina was founded 1653 by Virginia colonists. Their main industry is Plantation agriculture (indigo, rice, tobacco) and their main city is Raleigh.

It was named from Carolus, the Latin word for "Charles," Charles I of England and it became a state on November 21, 1789.South Carolina was founded on 1663 by English colonists. Their main industry is Plantation agriculture (indigo, rice, tobacco, cotton, cattle) and their city is Charleston. Their name comes from Carolus, the Latin word for "Charles," Charles I of England and it became a state on May 23, 1788. Georgia was founded on 1732 by James Oglethorpe.
