Electroplating on my race. Seen sake want was wrong out I toll nerd I Llano's want to tale about it. Once home, I took a shower and got in bed.
A few hours later, my mom woke me up for dinner. At the table, I was very quiet. "What's wrong, Alexis? ", my dad asked. "Nothing, Just had a long day.
" My mom and dad begin to talk about the day they had. "Well, Alexis, are you ready for your track meet this week? " "No. " "Why not? " "I'm not running. " "What do you mean, you're not running? " "Coach said...
.. Its nothing. "I got up from the table, went to my room and closed the door. I did not want to talk.
Later, my mom came in and asked me what my coach had said. "Mama, I'm not running. Coach said my time is not good enough and she replaced me with a senior. " "Oh, baby, I'm sorry.
" I began to cry. "l worked hard, Mama. " My mom gave me a hug and assured that everything would be okay. Before bed, she came in with The Little Engine That Could.
"Ma, where are you going with that? " I was now being a typical teenager and thinking that this was very childish. We are going to read it. " "Mama, that book is for children. " She sat down beside and began reading.
Once she finished, she made me read it aloud. After I finished, she told me that I can do anything I put my mind to. I did not run for the first two track meets but I continued to practice hard and by the third meet, I was ready. I went out and won second place in my division. I felt great.
Years went by and I was finally graduating highlights. After graduation that night, my mom handed me a present.I didn't open due to excitement and of course I was dead to go out and party with my friends. The next day, I sat on my bed in my room and opened the present. It was the book, I Knew You Could.
I began to cry and went to my mom. She smiled and motioned for me to sit down. We opened the book and read it aloud together. After we finished, my mom told me that she always knew I could do anything I put my mind to and she knows that I will have a bright future if I stay on the path that I am on and keep these books with me in life.
I think I can. I know I can.
