A person faces many struggles throughout his/her life. Furthermore, not all situations are resolve.
This is evident in many short stories that mainly focuses on a character who is undergoing an inner conflict. In the short story, "The Necklace", Mr.. Eloise deals with his wife and the troubles she creates.

. Eloise loses his social standing in society by trying to fix the problems his wife creates. This includes her greed towards luxury and vanity which later on result a lifetime worth of pain and grief for the both of them. Secondly, Mary Maloney puts herself in more trouble after killing her husband due to her extreme motional downfall.To illustrate, Mrs.
. Maloney carelessly allowed her emotions and thoughts to take control of her, as a result, she unintentionally murders her spouse. Lastly, Andy dies due to not being able to attain help. Similarly to the other two characters from the previous short stories, Andy situation also ended in an overwhelming matter.
Through these short stories, the reader is able to understand the difficulty of finding an effective resolution for a crisis. Moreover, one's approach to a solution can become his/her struggle which can dispiritedly ruin one's life.
