For a few years now, it has been a personal goal of mines to become bi-lingual in a foreign language.
Learning Spanish is the language that I always wanted to learn. In the past when I took lessons in High School, after passing Spanish 101 class, I had no intentions of registering to take Spanish 102. Continuing to take lessons was not on the top of my list as a teenager. I did not put any value in learning a second language.
But as I became of age and traveled to Spain while enlisted in the military, learning to speak another language Just became intriguing to me.I want to become a lent Spanish speaking American with hopes to be able to communicate with others. Currently, having this high desire to learn Spanish has made its way to my bucket list. After moving to Lincoln, and having the time to get involved with some off duty education outside of work, I figure now is the best time to get enrolled in a Spanish course. Hopefully, learning the language on my own and in class will make my future travels more enjoyable.
The starting point of this Journey of learning Spanish has been an smooth yet slightly challenging.I say smooth mainly because I seem to be able to comprehend the eternal that I have been working on thus far I. E. Greetings, colors and numbers.
My expectation from taking this class is to be able to gain new knowledge on learning Spanish culture and learning to communicate in Spanish. I expect that the skills I learn in this class will also be helpful for me in my personal and professional life. By learning how to speak Spanish, that knowledge would benefit me at work by making some of my case files from Latino applicants much easier to review. In my personal life, learning Spanish will enable me to communicate better without any anxiety when I travel too Spanish speaking country .
I also expect to leave this class with confidence in my ability to speak Spanish casually. I am most excited about the ability to do so, I Just hope that I can retain everything I learn in class. I am equally comfortable working in pairs or in a group. I actually love to work in a team because I can learn a lot from other people, but if I have to work alone, then I am also fine with that.I enjoy working in both conditions and I have no problems with either.
At times working alone seems more desirable to me, especially at work, because I can manage my own time. Also, I have a chance to show a majority of my skills. Working in pairs or being on a team is different because I think you can learn from your team members and learn some new skills so you gain experience as well as learning to try to accept your team members opinion. For the duration of the class, I plan on making many mistakes but not intentionally.
I know that I make grammar errors in English so, it is highly likely that I will do the same In spinals. I nave a Masters degree, Ana Tanat does not stop me Trot speaking and or writing incorrect English every now and then. So I think it is safe to assume that Spanish speakers make the same level of grammar errors in their native engage as we do in ours. Making mistakes is part of how I learn a new skill. When I try to carry a conversation in Spanish, I try too hard to get the sentence Just right, and by then it's too late, the mistake is made.
I'm still new to this, my vocabulary isn't large enough to even be able to put together sentences without a English to Spanish translation dictionary. I do not believe that my age will hinder me in learning Spanish. I think the whole optimal age learning thing is subjective. What really counts is the wiliness of a person to learn and that persons level of education. When I was in my "optimum" mime for learning a new language I was busy playing sports, watching TV and hanging out in the mall.
It was only until I became older got older that I valued the idea of learning a new language and actually made it a personal goal. I think that it may actually be easier for me to learn Spanish now than in my younger years. I have more motivation and determination now. While working a full-time and going to class in the evening, that could be a bit overwhelming.
I plan on putting on hold or gave up my extracurricular activities during the time I am in school. I Plan to go with the flow.
