Each year numerous graduates emerge and start the search for Jobs with little or no success.

This project will study some of the factors leading to unemployment among graduates despite being educated and competently qualified to work in their area of study. Some of the factors to be considered are gender, experience, graduate success among others. The data for this research will be mainly primary data, collected directly from graduates and employers by use of questionnaires. These will be sampled out and the results obtained for analysis. Method of analysis will be multiple regression using SPAS and interpretation done to compute the conclusion. Thousands of students graduate from universities each year.

What is disappointing is that they come out of school with great dreams of getting employed and eventually starting their families. However, they are faced with the challenge not easily getting a job as anticipated or never getting one at all. This project studies why it is so hard to et a Job and comes up with solutions to cub this great issue of unemployment. Over the past years, there has been a growing concern in the issue of high unemployment rates among our local graduates. Some made it to the headlines, newspapers and even in the blobs.

This shows how serious this issue is and we are interested in finding out why this happened and to identify what are the causes and if possible achieve a solution to this problem.Every year our local universities, public or private higher institutions produced a large number of graduates but the percentages of the graduates who acquire a Job at the end of the day is surprisingly low. This matter is a grave concern as this will decrease the image of our educational system in Kenya. Companies or employees might someday totally lost interest in our graduates due to the statistics of high unemployment rates if the root causes of the problem have not been identified. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM There is a high rate of unemployment among the youth despite most of them being educated and qualified individuals.

This study aims at identifying some of the major actors in-order to provide solution and in turn reduce the rate of unemployment among graduates. OBJECTIVE * To identify the main factors contributing to the high rate of unemployment in graduates. * To come up with ways of dealing with these factors and in-turn reduce the rate of unemployment among graduates. METHODOLOGY I would use multiple regression to identify the relationship if any between some of these factors and the unemployment rate. Data analysis will then be done using SPAS and interpretation of the results done to make the conclusion.
