Girls, Ladies, and Women, we need to stand up and control our future. It’s appears that we have been doing, so for the past decade, but are we really controlling our lives with our own beliefs? Everyday women of all ages are being influenced by media and influenced by society.
It’s always good to see the world and understand different views. Although, how can we understand different views, if many of us do not even understand ourselves? To understand ourselves, means that we have to understand what was, what is, and what could be . We need to ask questions to our inter person like what were that girl’s dreams?What is that lady’s reality and what could be the Woman plan for the future? Every women needs to understand the importance of decisions making. Any given decisions made will not only affect her but her future generation.
Having a Plan and making right decisions should be on every women mind. In my twenty-one years of interacting with society. I have finally finalized that all women need a plan. In my interview this concept of a plan stuck out, like a needle.
In which a needle is threading two pieces of cloths together to make a master piece. A master piece, in which, we become the subject of it perfection.To help reinforce my idea I have done research that contributes to this ideal. “In Women 2020: Our Selves, Our Worlds, Our Futures”, by Birtwistle, Elisa, and Futurist. In this article they observed women changes in society and break it into four dimensions. The dimensions are decision making, workplace and the economy, communication and identity, and innovation.
All these aspect of women occur with an understanding of one’s self and an understanding of a plan for a future. Another article that is an aid to this idea is called “Confidence Woman” by Luscombe, Belinda.In this article they focus on the Facebook's CEO Sheryl Sandberg and her “mission to change the balance of power”. This article focused on what power and control women should have in today’s society. The last article that I researched that helps support the idea of planning is by Sandberg, Sheryl. "Why I Want Women To Lean In".
This article is by Sheryl Sandberg and shows how women need to plan their future but not make a plan to affect their career in a negative way. To plan so that they can accomplish their overall goals as women, in which they never settle for less.There are also two reading in class that aided to reinforce my research which are “Why Millennial Women Do Not Want To Lead” by Julie Zeilinger. This article relates to my topic because women do not want to lead, let alone lead within them self.
Women do not want to believe in them self. Women need more trust in their intelligence and capacities. One of the other article that I choose is called “The Transformation of Silence into Language and Action” by Audre Lorde. This article Audre Lorde focuses on the hardship of speaking, and finding your itch within yourself; of making a change with your own beliefs.
All these different articles intertwine with one another and contribute to the idea of women and their plan of the future. Everyone has a dream. The person I interviewed name was Anatalia Estevez and she had a dream, which was, to see life for what it was, to travel more and understand the different views of the world. Dreams that soon will be seen, turned into a nightmare. The person that I interview gave this idea of a plan which stemed from comments that she stated. Like this for example; “I got an amazing job which was a part of U.
S Custom. I know if I would be there today, I would have excelled to a higher position.At the time I knew there was more to life than Puerto Rico, I decided to leave Puerto Rico and head to the United States. To be honest there was really no need for me to come to the United States. I did it because I was in love with my current partner. Do not get me wrong, I did want to explore the world, but I simply wished I had done it differently”.
In her personal experience she made a decision that affected her life. She sacrificed her job and life for what she believed was love. She had a dream to love before she loved herself first. She believed in the picture that was not fully painted.She dreamt too much of the future painting. In the article Confident women it gives one the cord reason why women settle for less than what they really should.
The article states; “The sisters are doing some of it to themselves. For a variety of reasons, they're not aiming high enough. They're underestimating their abilities. They're doing too much housework and child care. They're compromising their career goals for partners and children even when such partners and children do not yet exist”.
In this quote Luscombe explains how the CEO, Sheryl of Facebook defines the currentissue of women in society. This compares to the interviewee because she lets go of everything for a partner. Women need to put themselves first. The advice the interviewee needed was to understand yourself first and love yourself first. This is one of the important concepts that show what dreams that girl had.
She was lost within herself because she compromises her dreams and career goals for a relationship or a family that is simply not there. In the article “Why I want women to lean in” states similar idea to the previous article because one is based on one another.The ideal that woman have barriers in society. Not only, that but also the ones culture hold toward them, but they have the biggest obstacle to face which is themselves. This article states; “We must not ignore the real obstacles women face in the professional world, from sexism and discrimination to a lack of flexibility, access to child care and parental leave.
But women can dismantle the internal barriers holding us back today”. In this quote it demonstrates current issues with any of the cultures in the world. This girl is not leaning in because she want that family one day.This is why she and other ladies like her are holding them self-back. This concept of a plan has always been in effect, but simply women are planning for other than themselves.
From dreaming the interviewee had to have a harsh reality check. A short story of the interviewee was she obtained a secretarial bachelor’s degree. This degree was obtained in Puerto Rico. This lady moved to the United States and enrolled and started college in New York City.
She went to school to understand the English language better. If she wanted a good job, she first needed to master the language.During her second semester she became pregnant. By this happening she needed to drop out of college. Get two jobs, in which she worked from seven am to two am in the morning.
She did this after her baby was born. She worked two jobs for many years until she achieved that dream she thought she had for herself. This was to buy her first house and many houses after that. What this lady did was buy house, renovate them, and sell them.
Everything seemed perfect. The only harsh reality was this dreams of hers did not last long.In 2007 she lost both her job due to the current economy. She could not afford to buy any more houses. The interviewee lost everything and had to start from scratch. This is when having a plan for her was much needed.
She needed to put her goals and herself first. In the article In “Women 2020: Our Selves, Our Worlds, Our Futures”. They discussed women pressure in society and roles at home. This relates to the interviewee because during that time in her life she experiences many pressure from all aspect of her life. “Women are faced with more choices than ever.
While the types of choices and their breadth vary dramatically around the world, choice (expectation andreality of it) is a central dynamic in women's lives. Women are thus under growing pressure in decision making, from prioritizing day-to-day activities to sequencing the stages of their lives. Much of this pressure is rooted in the tension between career and family” Tension, Tension between the families, which is maybe one of the reason divorce rates are so high today. This statement relates to the other article because it acknowledges the pressure of women in a decision making process.The solution to this problem, which is planning is not an easy objective to accomplish.
Aside from planning many other aspects of the women can affect the outcome of that master plan. Not understand the world and yourself is important. Understanding the needs and wants for you want. All these questions and only you have the answer to. Although there are many issues and questions, there is still some progressive. Slowly but sure enough one day, we can see women truly shine.
Women are starting to put themselves first. This is somewhat of a slow process but it is happen.Women are starting to break the silence. In the article “The Transformation of Silence into Language and Action” it’s shown that finally women are standing up. Before we actually rejoice in the idea of women standing up, two things have to happen. Women need to acknowledge this silence and second women need to embrace themselves.
This article presents the reason of the silence in women lives. “In the cause of silence, each of us draws the face of her own fear — fear of contempt, of censure, of some judgment, or recognition, of challenge, of annihilation.But most of all, I think, we fear the visibility without which we cannot truly live”. In this statement it’s providing a reason why women remain silence of their ambiance that probably wants to burst out and speak. Silence because they lack confident in themselves.
Silence because they think their lives are not as valuable as man or Silence because their dreams is said out loud as often. The woman with a plan of the future understands society, understands her, and understands her dreams. In all reality this women of the future, which is the interviewee, which is you, which is me.Are all women with dreams that need to break the silence! Need to change the lack of confident and as Sheryl Sandberg said “sit at the table”. Basically have your dreams and even as crazy as it sounds.
Go after those dreams. It’s not about simply living. It’s about living with fulfillment that we came, we are, and we conquer our inner desire to be the best we can be. Not only for the benefits of ourselves but for the future we, the future Generations. In the article why “Why Millennial Women Do Not Want To Lead” sums it up best.Its states; “The next time the opportunity presents itself, convince the smart, talented young women in your life that they don’t need to fit an unattainable, unrealistic standard of perfection to lead: let them know their intelligence and integrity are more than enough”.
We as women need to be a support system from future generations not simply for ourselves. Even though; we are struggling for our happiness and equalities in society. Women need to work together and make this world a better place. From finding your self, to speaking up, and helping others. This is ungoing process for the formula of success.
