In this paper, I will be discussing the research question, “Are professional athletes overpaid? ” After researching the topic, I came up with the conclusion that professional athletes are not overpaid based on the amount of money that they bring into their organization. Other reasons for this conclusion include the following: professional athletes put in large amounts of time and dedication for their sport, professional sports are billion dollar businesses, society craves their entertainment, athletes are role models/ superheroes to young kids.Throughout the process of researching my topic, I read multiple sources discussing anything from the average career length of an athlete, to the average salary of an athlete based on his or her sport.

I also interviewed a high school baseball coach to find a more professional view on the topic. Time When the average American thinks of the life of a professional athlete, we think of the glamour and the fun of being a superstar. Our minds immediately go to the spotlight and the fame. It’s easy to think that these superstars just arrive on the field and use their natural gifts from God to perform at the highest level.

While the majority of these athletes are naturally gifted and have been athletic their entire lives, that doesn’t mean that no work is put in to achieve their goals. Every one of these guys have been training their entire life to get where they are today in sports. Personal Experience . In my personal life, I’ve put in countless hours just to be able to perform well enough to play college baseball.Throughout my childhood, I played any and every sport I could. From soccer to football to baseball, it didn’t matter as long as I was playing something.

As you get older, you begin to realize what sports you’re good at and what sports need to be left behind. In high school I played both football and baseball. For me, sports didn’t only take place during the school year. Every summer I played baseball down in Phoenix and football with my high school.I worked my butt off in order to get better with the dream of either playing college football or college baseball.

By my sophomore year, I knew that baseball was the sport that I wanted to play in college. I showed up to practice an hour early, and stayed an hour late each day. I was in the gym longer than anyone else and I never had an off-season. Baseball became a year round sport. That’s the dedication it takes to be able to make it as a college baseball.
