Treating the Pain by Ending a Life is very persuasive in my eyes. The thing that helped to make the essays more creditable is that each essay in chapter 51 started with the background and credentials of the author. One reason I felt that this particular essay persuaded me is because it was told from the point of view of someone who has personally had to make the decision to carry out this act on another human life. The fact and the story that were portrayed in this essay were creditable and substantial due to the fact that the author’s credentials were relevant and creditable. I also did not find this writing to be biased.The point and thesis was clearly stated and the author did address a few of the opposing views.
As the author addressed the opposing views it was still in a respectful manner and he still made his point the stronger case. The biggest seller for me is the fact that the essay was strong, bold and straight to the point. I did not get lost in story but was able to make an informed decision based on facts and not on emotion. The emotion is a great selling point but I prefer facts to confirm my emotions. This essay was bold, creditable and kept my attention.After submitting my paper to WritePoint I realized that one of the suggestions that appeared multiple times is that I needed to be clearer with my word choice and that some of my wording was wordy.
WritePoint suggested many time to take out a word to make it more understandable. So basically all the suggestion that I received said that I needed to clean up my writing and make it clearer. I am always open to feedback as well as encourage it and will use it to the best of my ability to improve my writing.I believe that my essay still needs some work but I do think that my essay will be persuasive. Just like the essay I wrote about in part 1, it is full of straight forward facts and not too much story telling.
As long as I can be clear in my writing, which is one of the major keys to success, my readers will stay interested. Sometimes I have a hard time determining when I am writing a biased opinion or not. I feel strongly on a topic and the reader is usually able to tell which side of the line I am leaning towards. One thing that I do is have someone else read my essay and tell me if they think it biased or not. Once I get the feedback I can make the appropriate adjustments.
As I use the feedback and apply it to my essay, I believe that my essay will be persuasive, unbiased and effective.
