Often time’s people are searching for a concrete place to anchor hope; the Bible provides a comprehensive and accurate account from God. The historicity of the Bible and the amount of people involved to write it makes the Bible the most valid book ever made. Many people have attempted to discredit the Bible and failed, I am going to attempt to walk you through this question and a few other questions. I pray that after you read this essay you will see why I call this my love letter from God.

“An approach to the subject of Biblical authority must begin with God Himself. For in Him all authority is finally located. And He is His own authority, for there is nothing outside Him on which His authority is founded.”1 The geographic and historical data along with all predictions that have occurred in the Bible have taken place just as it has been outlined by God without one error, is a major point that speaks to the validity of the Bible and that it is the inspired Word of God.

“2 Timothy 3:16-17 16 All scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” As I previously quoted, 2 Timothy 3:16-17 it is one of the 4 arguments of inerrancy, the second argument can be found in, Jeremiah 14:14 14 Then the Lord said to me, “The prophets are prophesying lies in my name. I have not sent them or appointed them or spoken to them. They are prophesying to you false visions, divinations, idolatries and the delusions of their own minds.

God’s spoken word is truthful, from beginning to end. The third argument of inerrancy can be found in Matthew 15:17-20 17 “Don’t you see that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then out of the body?18 But the things that come out of a person’s mouth come from the heart, and these defile them. 19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts—murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. 20 These are what defile a person; but eating with unwashed hands does not defile them.” John 10:34-35 34 Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your Law, ‘I have said you are “gods”’?35 If he called them ‘gods,’ to whom the word of God came—and Scripture cannot be set aside.” The forth argument of inerrancy speaks about the accuracy of each word and tense of a word speaks to the validity of the Bible, that every letter written is true and meaningful.

“Finally inerrancy follows from what the Bible says about God’s character. Repeatedly, the scriptures teach that God cannot lie, Numbers 23:19; 1 Samuel 15:29; Titus 1:2; Hebrews 6:18. If then, the Bible is from God and His character is behind it, it must be inerrant and infallable.”2 In my opinion the strongest argument is 2 Timothy 3:16, because it speaks of equipping us for every good work not just a few. The Bible is 100% accurate and has been proven to be the Word of God; there exists no other book written like it.“There is a relationship between inspiration and inerrancy that cannot be ignored.

The Bible is the inspired word of God, so it must also be inerrant. This means the Bible is accurate, authoritative and incapable of error. It is not just textually accurate like a dictionary, but is accurate in its words, ideas and meaning. The Scripture was prepared for us to know God.

It is alive, powerful, relational and eternal. The Bible contains God’s message of salvation to everyone.”3 The relationship between inspiration and inerrancy can be explained as a supernatural influence, God, that spoke into the the writers of the Bible. This inspiration along with the Bible is what makes the Bible inerrant; it speaks to the quality of the writings and accuracy. My statement of faith is simple, I have a personal relationship with God daily and I read His word daily, the accuracy of the Bible is without error and has in all areas of my life provided solid steps for me to be more Christ like.

I believe the Bible is the truth, my light and my way.1 Elwell, Walter. Evangelical Dictionary of Theology. Grand Rapids Michigan: Baker Book House Company, 2001. (accessed March 2013).
