There are many needs which the user’s service in care might be in need of for example they can be anything such as emotional needs, social needs, intellectual needs and physical needs. The needs are important in that child’s life and have to be met so that it can contribute towards their good and ease.Maaria is only 12 years old. She has many physical needs which need to be met in order for her to be at ease. One of her physical need is that she needs help with independent mobility. Due to having problems with her limbs and joints she is adapted to a wheelchair.
If Maaria gets help with her mobility, she will be able to move around independently. This can be anything such as going to the toilet, getting a drink from the kitchen or even being able to walk around without anyone assisting her.Being independent is very important as Maaria is growing up she needs her own privacy when she goes to the toilet. She would not want anyone by her side when she’s on the toilet.
She will also be able to move around independently which is very important. Having to meet her mobility needs, she will be able do all sort of things which won’t require any help or assistant from other individuals.Having to wear glasses, this is another physical need Maaria has. For her when she is in school, the care workers that take care of Maaria have to make sure they give her enlarged text to read when she is in lessons in order for her to be able to read without difficulties such as squinting.If there is a case where Maaria forgets to wear her glasses to school the care workers of Maaria will have to provide her with enlarged text which she is able to read from. Making sure that the care workers fulfil Maaria’s physical needs is very important.
She also will be able to read for her own self rather than someone coming and reading the text for her out loud. It will even help her become an independent reader.Since Maaria’s school bus comes to collect her early in the morning and drops her off late after everyone else. Her physical need will be having good amount of sleep and rest. Having good amount of sleep up to 8 hours is very important for Maaria’s health.
It is recommended by doctors that an individual should have at least 8 hours of sleep.If Maaria doesn’t get enough sleep she will feel drowsy and tired in school which will affect her education as she will not be able to concentrate on her lessons, even now she has learning difficulties however if she doesn’t have enough sleep it will affect her education even further. Maaria needs to have enough sleep and rest before she wakes up for school for the next day in order to feel fresh and awake.Another physical need that Maaria has is her hygiene. She has to make sure that before she goes to school, she has to make sure she cleans herself properly so that her teachers and her classmate think she looks presentable.
Hygiene is very important factor in everyone’s lives. In order for individuals to feel nice and clean they have to look after their selves properly.Hygiene can be anything such as cutting her nails, brushing her hair in the morning, putting on new clothes, wearing new socks and also having a daily shower. Maaria has to make sure that she is unable to do any of these things independently, she asks someone else to help her out. Since she is at the age of developing she has to take care of herself even more.Maaria is always in her wheelchair, she has to make sure that she gets enough exercise so she doesn’t feel lazy and tired all the time.
Exercises have many benefits such as making an individual stay in shape, feel fresh and also energetic. Maaria has to make sure that she gets someone’s help to do light exercise which can be anything such as moving her arms or legs gently.Maaria also has a few intellectual needs such as problem reading or writing. Having learning difficulties can be very frustrating when trying to catch up with other students who might not have such difficulties. For Maaria she has to make sure that she has someone to help her out when she needs help with her homework and revision.Since she has difficulty speaking, her intellectual need will be that she learns a special sign language for people with learning difficulties.
The special sign language is called makaton. Makaton is a type of sign language which is practised by individuals which learning difficulties for example Maaria.Having difficulties with learning, Maaria has needs which are how to interact with another individual on one to one basis. She needs someone who can help her communicate with another individual so that when she is in need of something, she is able to inform someone independently.Another intellectual need that Maaria has is that she is need of an advocate who will speak for her due to having speaking difficulties. Maaria has to make sure that she has someone by her side who is willing to speak for her when she isn’t able to speak up for herself.
It is very important that she does as it would avoid any problems that will arise.Maaria also has a few emotional needs and one of her main one is that most of her time she feels lonely due to not being able to communicate properly with people around her since she has speaking difficulties. Her emotional needs are that she needs to be able to communicate with others so she doesn’t feel lonely and isolated.It is very important that Maaria feels valued by others around her for example her family or friends.
She needs friends that will make her feel special and valued. Since she is a developing individual she will be in need of people making her feel happy and content.Having social needs, Maaria needs to be able to make friends so that she can share and listening to their problems too. This way she will feel that she is being valued and happy.
Since she is becoming a teenager in a year’s time, she does not want to communicate her personal problems with her little brother and sister, she needs friends her age who she can talk to about anything.In order to make friends her age, she needs to able to communicate properly with others around her. Her social need will be that someone teaches her how to communicate with people so that she can become friends with them.Martin’s PIES needs:Since Martin has cystic fibrosis, he will have many physical needs. First of all will be taking care of his diet and eating right food which will help him get through his daily life.
There are many diet categories which are good for Martin such as calcium, fatty acids to build his cell membranes and iron to avoid anaemia.Most of the time Martin will not feel as though he is hungry, however his body will be in need of food so that he can have energy to do things. Martin’s physical need will be that someone makes sure Martin eats his meals on time and is not distracted by people or objects around him. Individuals who serve Martin have to make sure that they make his meals look more appealing to him so that he feels like eating and not feel put off by looking at not so attractive looking food.As most of the time martin stays in hospital, it is very important that he gets enough exercise. Exercise has many benefits one of them is that it will help him stay healthy and fit.
Making sure he gets sufficient amount of exercise, Martin has to make sure that he does exercise which suits him so that he doesn’t feel out of breath or his body starts to hurt him due to severe exercise.Having chest infections, martin has to make sure that he has enough rest and drink plenty of fluids. This is his physical need for chest infections. Making sure that he has enough sleep can be by sleeping on time and waking up on time. He also has to make sure he has at least 8 glasses of water a day to avoid any mucus getting stuck on his lungs also to clear his throat.Another physical need is his daily physiotherapy routine since Martin has physical impairments.
Someone has to make sure that they carry out the routine on martin every day to avoid any problems with limbs, joints and muscle. If it is avoided then it could lead to Martin being left paralysed.Since Martin stays in hospital most of the time, he has to make sure that he gets advice for daily living so he is able to live independently. His intellectual need will be that he learns and bears in mind the consequences and values of living alone independently.
This can be done by someone who is professional giving Martin good advice and share their own experience with him.Martin also has a few emotional needs which need to be carried out, since martin is in hospital most of the time, he might start to feel lonely and isolate. He may not have many friends who he can talk to or might not know how to communicate with others around him. Martin’s emotional need will be that someone at least comes to talk to him maybe one of this family members or friends if he has any.Someone also has to give him advice and tips on how to interact with others around him.
Since martin is a grown-up he might need some love from someone. This can be done by making new friends and communicating with them effectively.Martin’s social needs are that he needs to communicate with others around him. By communicating with others he will be able to make new friends who are also in the hospital most of the time like Martin is.
Martin needs to be able to make friends that are his own age so that he can talk to them about his problems and listen to theirs too. He will also be able to share their views on their treatment and ask each other about how’s the treatment. This way he will be able to feel valued as he will know someone is there who he can talk to.Myla’s PIES needs:Myla needs enough sleep and rest so that she is able to wake up in the morning on time as her bus collects her early in the morning, this is her physical need. Having enough sleep at least 8 hours is very important for Myla’s health. If she doesn’t get enough sleep then she might feel tired and drowsy in the centre.
Myla is 78 years old. She will have many physical needs such as support with many things. One of them will be that she will need someone to help her take a bath or go to the toilet. Since she is very old, she will be having troubles having a bath properly so if she gets assisted with someone she is comfortable with for example a female care worker then she will be able to have a bath without difficulties.Another physical need of Myla’s will be that she will need to carry out light exercise once a day so that her body doesn’t become stiff.
One of the reasons why she will need moving around is that so she can stay healthy and fit.Since Myla has obsessive compulsive disorder she has to make sure that she wakes up early in the morning to avoid getting late for her bus, her physical need will be that she sleep early so she can wake up early so that she can double check on her electrical plugs, windows, doors or any other things.Myla’s intellectual needs will be that she needs to be able to communicate with her neighbours so they can be on a look out when she is away to the centre. This way she will not be worried about her house as much as she is now.
Myla also have a few emotional needs, one of them is that she needs to make new friends by communicating with others around her. This way she will not feel lonely or depressed. Myla lives at home alone. If she starts communicating with others she might be able to call her friends over for tea in her own house.
If she starts making new friends she will not miss her children so much as they live 200 miles away and she rarely see them. She will feel happy and content when she is around her new friends as she will know that someone out there will be there for her when she needs them.Myla also has social needs which are to learn how to trust others and interact with them. By this she will be able to take her mind off the things she worries about such as the doors or the windows. She has to make sure that she is able to trust her neighbours when they lend their hand out for help.
She also needs to interact with them so that she can socialise with them.
