About three years ago, I lived with my father when he was destined in India to lead a foreign office of their company. One day, my father received a phone call from a national television program in Korea inviting him to appear on a TV show so he 'share to the people his company's succesful quest abroad'.I had the privilege to go along with my father. There was a hint of good fate for me, because not only I was allowed to accompany him but I was also invited to come along where guests were never allowed to go; join the show's behind-the-scenes team -up close and personal with all the dynamics the show is going to feature and broadcast. We sailed for several hours towards the location; a place where I have gone before but only through pictures and stories; an offshore oil and gas mining facility.

As a kid, I grew up in the same city in Korea where The Offshore and Engineering Division is found; so I thought that I was already familiar seeing technologically-advanced industrial structures. But I was wrong; technology in action right before my eyes! I witnessed how those massive structures are capable of manipulating and transforming the materials worked into it. I was overwhelmed with the grandeur of what I saw, that in my awe, my heart began to beat so fast and all I knew was, the next moment, I felt a great desire towards my future career. An engineer who excels in his craft working with nuts and bolts and technology could himself be a vital cog to his society.I abide with my personal belief that if a good will meets an ability, it seizes the greatest and the most positive power that can be harnessed and be channelled to contribute to the society. The way that I choose to take into being a vital cog for the society rests on you, enable me and my will to hone and develop the ability that I need.

But this will only begin to metrialize should I be honored into the gates of UIUC as an engineering student.
