I have chosen to do my research project on the effects of marijuana.
Why I have chosen to do this particular topic is that among many people my age (youths) it is a very common occurrence for teens to be trying marijuana. I have come to a conclusion that for my ‘’final question’’ I will do a poster preaching to teenagers the negative effects marijuana has on the human body. Also I will state how you can lose close friends and family over wanting to get “high”.I think this research will change teenagers minds about trying marijuana due to the fact a teenager (myself) will be presenting the harm marijuana can do. I believe teenagers are more likely to listen when being preached to by someone their age. What I hope to learn from my projects is the negative effects of marijuana and what sort of personal and social effect it has on someone.
It will also prevent me from trying the drug in the future and I hope that my poster will make teenagers think twice before trying the drug. I understand that many teenagers are pressured into trying drugs such a marijuana by their friends that are addicted or have tried it before. The communication skills that I will use in my project are writing on a poster, pictures on a poster and then offcourse my oral speech which I plan to give to the class preaching about the negative effects of marijuana.What I hope to accomplish with this is have self-understanding about the drug and also try to change what other teenager’s thing of the drug so if they ever are in the situation where they are offered or pushed into trying marijuana they will know how to decline it and will know the negative effects of it.
My main sources of information are going to be the internet, newspaper articles, books and interviews with people that have been smoking marijuana.Interviewing someone that is a marijuana user or addict will give me inside information about the drug and a user’s opinion on marijuana. This combined with the research I do online, newspaper articles and books will be very reliable information to present to Mr Street, classmates and sace. I will start my journal in week four term one and I expect by week four term two I would have collected enough information about marijuana to start building my poster step by step and taking the most important information and putting it together to make a wonderful final poster.
