Information dissemination is very important nowadays especially that we are in the modern times of age where technology is linked with any task.

An idea that is misinformed is very crucial in this kind of new age. This might create chaos or confusion to the recipients of the message. Misinformation is not only the issue here but also how the words were used in disseminating information (Hyman 12-15).In most cases a lot of stereotypes have lead to confusion especially in some important circumstances.1.

What is stereotypingStereotyping is often referred to labelling someone or something into a different connotation which will definitely not good for the person. This is oftentimes used to shape the opinions, beliefs of a person in order to persuade in a certain projects. This is generalizations linked to a person which was perceived beforehand as such. Stereotyping is always used anywhere and everywhere.  Stereotyping is oftentimes used also to add humour to the conversation example defining a person using different language to describe a person. In gender issue, women are stereotyped as the homemakers and the men are the breadwinners.

In conservative countries this is always the case but not in countries that fight for their rights and stand up for what they think is beneficial to the family. It involves sometimes race and ethnicity. In other words, stereotyping is just around the corner. It can be attached to anyone (Jowett & O'Donnell 20-22).Stereotypes played a big role in realizing the propaganda.

It states generalizations which in one way or the other connotes negatively or positively. But oftentimes and most practiced by the society stereotyping connotes a negative notion in presenting ideas.  From the everyday lives of people it can be found everywhere. It is used in any statement, conversations, and ideas presented, or just simply stating facts.

It greatly applies to anyone especially dealing with the person’s own ideas, beliefs and even emotions (Crisis management of social structures: Planning, propaganda and societal moral 337-359)2. What is propagandaIn layman’s term, propaganda is telling half-truths in order to persuade group of people in a certain area or either get the attention of these people to believe into something. This is not a complicated word rather just to simple but some of the handlers made it complicated. +It came from a Latin word meaning to spread to everyone. It was widely used by different sectors in religion in spreading the word of God. Today propaganda is more of a dissemination of a certain issue to the public and encouraging them to believe it and apply it onto their own lives.

Beliefs can change as the person is exposed with different propaganda presented to him/her (Fletcher 60-63).Oftentimes propaganda is distorted or misleading words that try to deceive a person. It tries to manipulate the person through presentation of materials such as in the form of pictures, symbols, images and among others. These pictures and images are much used rather than presenting it in a wordy format. With the advent of technology, the pictures are then transformed into a bigger and wider medium so that it can reach wider audience (Fletcher 65-69).Propaganda was described also as a strength that can influence anyone with their opinions and decision and even changing it.

This can be accounted into media forms that are accessible to anyone (Hyman 30-32).It was more used in political arena especially when the government declared World War II. There was a tremendous increase in the use of propaganda just to declare the war and form groups that will be used as propagandists. They used this as an opportunity to escalate war and even more increase the hype in the political scene in the world. Different propaganda came out pertaining to the negative acts of the enemy which later on acted by the politicians leading to war (Hyman 33-50).Propaganda is s also likened to advertising or public relations.

Why advertising? Making propaganda is like selling a product using words that appeals the target audience and giving stereotypes to other competitors. Before, propaganda was a neutral term used in spreading news or sometimes disseminating information or certain idea to the public. Time evolved and technology changed and updated. The propaganda that was referred before as just informing was already used as a device or tool in getting the attention of the enemy. This is where propaganda was classified into three forms: the white propaganda, which talks more positive ideas and information; black propaganda, which involves negative statements and author oftentimes do not reveal its identity; and the gray propaganda which is either pro or con.

This was seen as the same terms because in pursuing propaganda you have to employ different techniques in persuasion and using of different medium to convince the audience. These images try to manipulate decisions, attitudes and beliefs. It was only used negatively when there were criticisms on the strategy of the government especially when the WWII broke out (Altheide 20-35).In making propaganda stereotyping is connected with this term. Stereotyping is utilized to expand the definitions of the propagandists.

They use concrete terms such as the stereotypes of anybody or anything to fully describe a certain image or picture.here are different techniques used in influencing people’s decisions (Altheide 43-48).a. Ad Hominem – this technique involves attacking the opponent  rather than the arguments presentedb. Appeal to authority – this employs individuals who has high positions in order to have prominence in translating the ideasc.

Appeal to fear – it carefully sets tone of fear in order to persuaded. Appeal to prejudice – this means that those who do good will reap goode. Bandwagon – joining the group. There is no concrete decisionf. Disinformation – information are not properly disposed to the publicg.

Glittering generalities – words that are appealing are used in campaignsh. Half truth – some of the statements are not really the truthThese are just some of the techniques used in propaganda. In order to disseminate it to a wider audience propagandists seek to employ it through different media forms. These can be through  news articles, primers, brochures, reports from the government, leaflets, books, broadcasts such as in radio, television and the internet. Propaganda in television is done through interviews with the concerned group spreading the propaganda (Jowett ; O’Donell 24-26).

Propagandists employ a strategic campaign in order to keep track with their objective. The core objective of the propaganda is to inform, persuade and twitch decision of the parties involved (Altheide 45).The propaganda technique is what stereotyping is all about. This is linked with each other because it feeds the propaganda to keep it going with the information.

It is the meat of the propaganda that is disseminated to everybody. Although stereotyping may not always bring negative connotation but because of the negative connotation the propaganda brought it has been used negatively.
