A youth club is a place where young people meet and participate in various activities.

Many youth clubs are set up to provide young people with activities designed to keep them off streets and out of trouble, and to give them an interest in different activities. Some youth clubs can have a particular compelling force, such as music, guidance or characteristics such as determination. The Central Village Teens’ Ministries; a small youth club within the church is no different. The Central Village New Testament Church of God is located in Big Lane Central Village. This church was started in 1933. In the initial stages this church had a total of fourteen (14) members.

Over the years the numbers of members have grown significantly.In 2012 there was a noticeable increase in the number of teenagers (youths) attending the church on a weekly basis. These teens were participative and extremely active in the various church functions and activities. This aided the start of the churches’ first teens’ youth club- Teens’ Ministries. This club was started as a means of keeping these teenagers off the streets and interested in church activities.

The church, through Teens’ Ministries has managed to keep this group of teens in the church and interested in religion. Originally the Teens’ Ministries began with twenty seven (27) teens, now, the numbers range from thirty seven to forty five (37-45) weekly. The Teens’ Ministries help to provide the teens of the church and the wider Central Village community with a sense of belonging security and space for spiritual growth. I have chosen the Central Village New Testament Teens’ Ministries because it has captured my interest.

This weekly meeting has helped to significantly decrease criminal activities in the Big Lane area. Finding out more about the Teens’ Ministries and what it does is something I am really passionate about. I would like to find out if there are any other ways this group helps teens and exactly how they do it and how it helps with the reduction of crime in that area. Statement of problem: The community of Central Village specifically Big Lane is generally considered “bad”. This is due to the level of crime and violence.

The youths of Big Lane Central Village are the known contributors to the many criminal activities. How has their participation in the Teens’ Ministries at the Central Village New Testament Church helped to decrease the level of violence in the Big Lane area?Aims and objectives The completion of this internal assessment involved the achieving of the following objectives: To successfully achieve the maximum marks given for this assessment after investing time to make it the required cape standard regarding Sociology. To show perseverance and determination in collection the relevant information necessary of the completion of this assignment. To gain further incite on the purpose of the Teens’ Ministries of the Central Village New Testament Church of God and how it helps to curb the crime rate in Big Lane Central Village.Methodology This internal assessment required detailed and comprehensive information about the Teens’ Ministries of the Central Village New Testament Church of God.

Primary research- was collected through use of the following instruments: The survey methods.Questionnaires- a questionnaire is a research instrument consisting of a series of written questions for the purpose of gathering information from the respondents.The advantages of questionnaires:1. Practical.

2. Large amounts of information can be collected from a large number of people in a short period of time and in a relatively cost effective way.3. Can be carried out by the researcher or by any number of people with limited affect to its validity and reliability.4.

Can be analyse and more 'scientifically' and objectively than other forms of research.5. When data has been quantified, it can be used to compare and contrast other research and may be used to measure change.6.

Positivists believe that quantitative data can be used to create new theories and / or test existing hypotheses.Interviews- interview is a conversation between two people (the interviewer and the interviewee) where questions are asked by the interviewer to obtain answers from the interviewee.The advantage of interviews:The interview makes the answers instantaneous while both parties are making direct contact. Thirty (30) questionnaires will be given out to various members of the Central Village New Testament Church of God, of this thirty; twenty-five (25) is expected to be returned. In addition thirty (30) interviews will be done.
