His entire life, Carl has longed to wander the wilds of South America. Then, one day, the irascible senior citizen shocks his neighbors by tying thousands of balloons to his home and finally taking flight. But Carl isn't alone on his once-in-a-lifetime journey, because stowed away on his front porch is an excitable eight-year-old wilderness explorer named Russell.

Later, as the house touches down on the world's second largest continent, Carl and his unlikely travelling companion step outside to discover that not only is their new front lawn considerably larger, but that the predators therein are much more ferocious than anything they ever faced back home.Activities:Before watching the film.1) Warmer.The teacher has these two images in flashcards. S/he shows them and asks them if they know who these two characters are, what they do, etc. For sure, at least one student will know that these two characters are the main protagonists of the film Up.

Given that, you ask them if they would be able to tell their companions the plot of the film. The teacher gives support.2) Activity 1:Working with the flashcards. The class is divided in two groups of 4 people. Each group has one character either Russell or Carl. The teacher asks them to say at least 5 things that they wear or bring.

E.g: Russell--> trumpet, cap, gadgets, flag, rucksack or bag, etc.Carl--> glasses, ring, belt, boots, bag, bow tie, etc.Then, they exchange information aloud in class.

The teacher gives an example of running by gesturing the action, and asks the students to say what s/he is doing. Then, they watch the film and at the end the teacher asks them to name the actions that have taken place. These are some examples:- Watch the TV/telly/television.- Knock the door.- Open the door.

- Introduce oneself.- Smash the door.- Listen carefullyThey exchange the vocabulary actions and the teacher provides those that haven't been mentioned.4) Activity 3:Fill in the gaps activity. They are given a handout.R: Good Afternoon.

5) Activity 4:It is a role play activity. Each student is given a different stripe of paper which contains information about one person. Then, in pairs, they have to present themselves following what the stripe of paper says. Given the instructions, the teacher performs the activity with one student. It could be a good idea to write some model sentences for the students to follow. The stripe of paper should look like this one:Other Activities:1) Oral Activity.

Introduce yourself. The students are asked to do an activity about introducing themselves to their partner. The model we follow is in activity 3.2) Writing Activity.
