College life is a life of freedom. I remember my first day at college. I had looked forward to this day from my school days. Life at college meant for me a new life.
I was no more a young child but a teenager. The rain was pounding against my window as I awoke at the 'ungodly' hour of seven thirty. It was bad enough that I had to be there for 9 AM. I felt so secure and warm wrapped up in my winter duvet. It was the best feeling in the world. As I finally dragged my self out of the comfort and security of my bed, I felt the cold as I rushed to get a shower.
When I entered my college for the first day, I looked around with a mixed feeling of confusion and joy.The stately building with massive pillars made a deep impression on my mind. I was puzzled as I was not used to the ‘college-ways’ of things. The students in batches were moving up and down the corridors for their classes.
The professors were coming smilingly and exchanging greetings with the students in a friendly manner. I didn't really want to go, but something inside me told me I should; it would be for the best. Today wasn't just my first day at college;it was the start of a journey.I arrived early, about eight thirty. I'll always remember that totally lost feeling which i had at that time. "A college degree is not a sign that one is a finished product but an indication a person is prepared for life.
" The first item on the routine was a lecture on English. I joined my class room. The professor came with the attendance register. After finishing roll-call he delivered a short lecture on college-life.
What impressed me most was the fluency with which he spoke. He advised us to take the maximum advantage of college-life.Consulting my day’s routine I found that the next period was an off-period. This gave me a chance to make a tour round the college premises. I noted with a sense of relief that I would no longer be confined to the same room for hours together as I used to be at school.
The first year of college can be a new and exciting journey for many students. Students can also take on new experiences in their first year of college;it can also come with bumps along the way. As a student he or she must find a way to balance their new life as a college student and their transitions.
