You might ask what a hater is; Maya Angelou has defined it perfectly.

“A hater is someone who is jealous and envious and spends all their time trying to make you look small so they can look tall. They are very negative people to say the least. Nothing is ever good enough. ” I haven’t encountered haters much in my life, or maybe I just didn’t care as much to what or why they hated me. The most recent time I could remember people hating on me was in middle school.

I was in the 6th grade had a fresh new pair of shoes and new clothes on.Out of nowhere somebody came and stepped on my shoe then with a fake forgiving smile said “Oops I’m sorry”. A side of me wanted to bust out in a rage and hurt this boy, but another side told me to just ignore it and keep on going about my business, and that’s what I did. Then the thought hit me; even though I ignore haters that don’t mean they will ignore me. Later on in the day I heard him and a group of other boys talking about me and making rumors, so at the time I ignored it and at the end of the day I confronted him.

I asked him what he had against me; he replied I just don’t like you. When I asked why he just walked away. What I learned is that no matter what if they have a reason to or not haters will hate. It’s not always you they hate. They could hate themselves and choose to bring everybody down to their level.

It’s nothing you can do to change that. The only thing you can do is go on about your life and forget about a hater. If they want to change they will if not they will keep being bitter and jaded and end up becoming nobody because later on in life that’s all we will recognize them to be.This experience has prepared and taught me to know exactly how to take care of a situation with a hater. It’s not really hard; just don’t let them get to you.

It’s already known that it’s nothing you can do to make a hater your friend, so don’t try to make them your friend and don’t try to satisfy them. Just keep moving on with your day. Like Maya Angelou said “Haters can’t stand to see you happy. Haters will never want to see you succeed. ” So, we shouldn’t give them the satisfaction in seeing us or thinking they made us unhappy.
