Since movies are based on books then of course there are similarities but there are also differences.

This applies to Flowers to Algernon as well. There were many similarities and differences from the book to the movie. In Flowers to Algernon the things happening to Charlie were getting worse and worse. Some similarities were that Charlie raced with Algernon in the beginning of the operation and after the operation. After the operation Charlie began to have flashbacks.Charlie’s intelligence was growing and through the terms of words that he used.

When Charlie found out that he was going to lose his intelligence Charlie began to construct the Algernon-Gordon Effect. In the end he forgot everything and went to New York to start a new life. Some differences were that in the movie Charlie seemed like he had temper issues. Whenever Charlie thought that someone was making fun of him he would start arguing. In the book Charlie was nice throughout the story and when he found out how people treated him.Charlie’s job was different too.

In the book Charlie worked in a Plastic factory and in the movie Charlie worked in a bakery. In the movie Charlie also went to Chicago for a presentation of the surgery and to show the results of it. There were so many differences and similarities between the movie and the story. From the way Charlie was improving to the different jobs that Charlie had. In Flowers to Algernon some parts were extras. In the movie and some details were just changed.

Most of it was the same overall.
