Making the university open for a more competitive edge, Liceo de Cagayan University imported the idea of establishing a cheerleading varsity masterminded by Mr. Mozarth Pastrano, the General Manager of Liceo de Cagayan University and Head of Public Affairs. The school came upon Mr. Christopher Carumba and got him in as the official coach for the forthcoming team. He was a member of Crusader Cheer Force (CCF) of Ateneo de Cagayan University which was already “closed down” by the school, a three-time best ever representative team of Cagayan de Oro in cheerleading national competitions for college division.
The recruitment of members started when summer of 2010 was just around the corner. Young individuals with gymnastic background and former members of CCF were predominantly invited to join the team since they’ve been already trained and gained a lot of experiences in the cheerleading area. Also, because of the athletic scholarships offered by the school, many college students signed in provided that they have abilities. The group then decided for the team’s official name. They call themselves as “Titans All-star” since they’re composed of different cheerleaders with different personalities and skills.
During the few months of training, the cheerleaders never miss a chance to exhaust their talents and creativeness to transform a usual thing to a superbly extraordinary performance. But just like the other squads, they also face certain problems. In order to get back on the track, the team still manages to fire up because of determination and enthusiasm, letting go of selfishness and keeping in mind the value forgiveness. People with different perspectives, different attitudes and different talents and styles, to cheer, to lead, to inspire, to spread peace and love, and to give glory to God has always been in the Titan’s list.
Not just students, not just performers, but “cheerleaders”. To inspire and to be inspired, the team will always put in their hearts the adage, “Solo Dios Basta” which, in English, means “God Alone Suffices”. “Fresh from the kitchen” as they say, Titans All-star currently gains exposure and reputation, tuning up towards becoming a nationally-recognized cheerleading team in the Philippines. “One Team, One Victory, Go Titans! ” - Titans All-star
