Chapter 1 INTRODUCTION A. Background of the Study How can traditional games improve the health of the young generation rather than using hi-tech gadgets? Every one of us experience playing traditional games although there is a small percent of people saying that they have not given chance to play for their own reason. Traditional games are games commonly played by children ages 6-12 years old, usually using native materials or instruments. Here in the Philippines, due to limited resources of toys of Filipino children, they usually come up on inventing games without the need of anything but the players themselves.With the flexibility of a real human to think and act makes the game more interesting and challenging.
Playing traditional games has a big effect in our life especially in one person’s health. It helps us to discover their abilities and skills, build their confidence, increase cooperation, winning attitude and communication with a variety of people which will not be an issue for these child anymore. It also helps us to be attentive and focus minded person, give us a strong and healthy body by playing traditional games because it allows us to move all our body parts to keep us alive and ensured a positive and healthy skills learning process.Traditional Filipino Games are very much alive in Philippines.
It is not true that the Filipino Street Games are no longer played, as some would say that it has vanished in Philippine society. In many urban and rural areas, a great majority of Filipino children still play outdoor street games as most of them are still unable to own expensive high-tech gadgets. Games like Patintero, Tumbang Preso, Piko, Sipa, Turumpo, and many others, are very much alive and played daily in the neighborhood.
