Harriet Tubman was a spy in the Underground Railroad. Harriet would steal slaves from slave owners, to give them there freedom. Each slave was about one thousand dollars worth of flesh, bone, and muscle.
Some fugitive slaves were fearless, trust worthy, and smart. Before she rescued the slaves, she had already figured out a plan to save the slaves because she was intelligent and eager to do something.Harriet Tubman was once a slave, when she risked her life for freedom heading north. When she finally got to the north, she became a spy for the north. Now she goes back and steals slaves, from slave owners. She only did that because she thought it would be best if they could have there freedom.
Harriet Tubman was intelligent because when she captured slaves, she already had a secret path to set them free. It was called the Underground Railroad. Each time she captured slaves, she had everything planned out, for example, she knew who she couldTrust for food and shelter. Harriet was so intelligent, slave owners thought she was a man. She also knew what day to steal the slaves, she always would steal them from the slave owners on a Sunday, because the papers offering rewards for the fugitives were not printed until a Monday, so they would have a whole day as a head start.Slave owners thought she was a thief and very sneaky.
When people help free slaves or the slaves try to wonder off, they would be whipped and sold south, and the people who tried to help free the slaves would be hanged. Even thought Harriet new the consequences for helping a slave, she still did help them earn their freedom. Even though the woods were searched and the roads were watched, no one ever saw her and the slaves run away. Most slave owners saw her as an evil intelligent thief because of what she did to the slaves.Harriet Tubman is a type of hero who changed many lives.
She is an inspiration to many African Americans in so many ways. She also did the impossible by leading slaves to freedom without getting caught. Over the next twelve years of her trying to find her family, Harriet had saved more than 300 slaves out of slavery. To most people Harriet Tubman was considered a hero back then and is still remembered today.
