During the 18th century, power revolved only on the hands of the few.

This was a period in history when nations were preoccupied with expanding their territories across the globe. England, France and Spain were some of the power players during this era. They have successfully colonized lands that have widened their influence and increased their strength as powerhouse countries in both the Western and Eastern hemispheres. One of the most lucrative land possessions during the 1700s was the vast territory of North America. At that time, it was the French, the British, American colonists and the Native Americans who expressed their interests in taking ownership and having power over North America. By the year 1756, a full blown out war had erupted that came to be known as the Seven Year’s War which have spread from the West to the East.

On a smaller level in North America, this struggle was identified as the French-Indian War. Because of the strategic approach of the British and their strong alliance with the American colonists and Native Americans, they have defeated the French and Canada and most of the eastern territories in America became part of the British control. But after this victorious war for England, several internal conflicts have surfaced. For the British, their triumphant conquest of the North American continent boosted their confidence in terms of their sovereignty. For the Native Americans, they thought that their role in winning the French-Indian war would help them gain their independence from foreign occupation.

Meanwhile, the American colonists thought that their participation in the war had aided them in regaining their control over the Western border.Through these various interpretations on the after effects of the war, serious tensions between these three actors have emerged that eventually led to the manifestation of the American Revolution. If it were not for the French-Indian war, the Native Americans and American colonists would not have realized the significance of having independence in their own homeland. Despite America’s tainted past, they still managed to come out in the modern times as the most powerful and influential country in the world.
