When Mark Zuckerberg created Facebook in 2004, he didn’t know that it was going to become the most popular social networking site in the world. Facebook is a very popular social networking site, that is used by many people around the world.

You can use Facebook to communicate with your friends and family. Although people may think that Facebook is fun because of communication, it is actually dangerous and causes many problems. Facebook is dangerous to our society. On Facebook people can invade your privacy, create fake profiles to trick you, and facebook creates cyber bullying.Facebook is an invasion of privacy. Organizations can watch you while you are on Facebook.

Facebook cannot exist without invasion of privacy. It can track everything you click, even after you log out. It can also track all the pages you visited. More than 500 million users on Facebook share 100 million photos, and updates every day. Even if you share pictures, info, updates, etc. with a couple of people, it doesn't mean that other people can’t and won’t see it.

President Obama said, "careful about what (they) post on Facebook" as it will be "pulled up again later somewhere in (their) life".President Obama does not let his kids use Facebook because he said that it is not for kids. He says that everyone should learn to respect other people’s private lives. Facebook is starting to push the limits on privacy even farther. Also, people can use facebook to create fake profiles. When fake profiles are created, it spreads spam in your computer.

Fake users trick users into joining affiliated programs, which makes scammers money. Fake users can also take over your account. Ninety seven percent of fake profiles are those of women. For example, Taylor Wynn and McKenzie Baker, two high school students were arrested for creating a fake Facebook profile about a classmate. Ryan Bell, a policeman from the Florida Sheriff Office says, “This is a very serious crime. The sole purpose of this page was to terrorize and embarrass our victim”.

Female users account for about 40 percent of real people on Facebook, a judge said. Even though most fake users are women, it is still hard to keep track of who is a regular user and who is a fake. Facebook is dangerous because kids cyber bully each other. For example, on January 4th, 2012 Amanda Diane Cummings, a fifteen year old Staten Island teen, died after she jumped in front of a bus. She was carrying a note related to bullying.

The note was from one of her classmates who threatened her, and who stole her personal possessions. While she was in the hospital people from school posted cruel, and inappropriate comments on Amanda's facebook wall, even after being struck by a bus. Fifteen percent of teens say that someone has posted mean comments about them on a social networking site.Another example was when it was Nicole Edgington’s 17th birthday, when she started receiving texts saying bad things about her. Her friends told her there was a secret plan to attack her at an In-N-Out Burger. The plan was to attack her and slam her head into cement.

After the plan to attack her failed, the Facebook campaign against her started. Nicole said, "I received hundreds of threatening texts and messages”. In summary, according to Nicole Edgington and Amanda Cummings, Facebook is dangerous because of cyber bullying. In conclusion, Facebook is very dangerous to our society. It causes cyber bullying, allows fake users to join, and invades your privacy.
