Domain Controller Configuration: The user must use the Domain controller dialogue box accessed by clicking on browse which opens the select domain dialogue box. In a single domain system the select domain dialogue box is avoided. The configuration domain controller checkbox is selected and then the user clicks on browse to select the domain controller they want to use in configuring the system. Configuration of DNS operations within the Domain-Configuration of DNS refresh every 24hours: Go to the administrative Tools in the start menu and then click on DNS.In the console key, choose the refresh after every 24 hour as the zone and right click on it.

The options menu appears and the user is then required to choose properties. A window will appear that allows the user to configure the DNS (Russinovich & Solomon, 2005). To configure the POP3 E-mail the user must access the internet Information services managers (IIS) manager (Russinovich & Solomon, 2005). To open the IIS manager the user clicks on the control panel in the start menu.

Then the user double clicks on the administrative tools in the control panel window which will then open up a window that has the IIS manager option from where the user can configure the POP3 E-mail (Russinovich & Solomon, 2005). To configure a node such that it can browse for computer names the user has to go to the start menu. Access the control panel and double click on the network connections (Russinovich & Solomon, 2005). The user then goes to network places right clicks and uses the networking tab to access the advanced options that helps in the configuration (Russinovich & Solomon, 2005).Configuring DHCP services for VLAN Host in the prototype each VLAN will require its own unique pool: Access the administrative tools and then open the DHCP manager. The administrative tools are found by either accessing the control panel or are at times found in the start menu depending on the system configurations and user settings (Russinovich & Solomon, 2005).

From the DHCP menu bar the server/add option is chosen and at the dialogue box the add DHCP server to server list option is activated and the IP address for server entered before OK is clicked.Where each VLAN requires its own unique pool, the DHCP window is accessed and the select scope option menu item entered. A wizard appears that helps in creating the nature of the VLAN pools in the individual points. To create files and permission where the user can have only certain privileges set by the file owner, the owner right clicks on the file of folder and then chooses Properties from the Menu (Russinovich & Solomon, 2005).On the properties window, the owner clicks on the security tab which results in a page that has a properties dialogue box. On this page the owners should then click on the advanced button that is a leeway to the advanced security dialogue box from which he can select the ownership tab do the necessary configurations after which he clicks on apply.

To configure a public folder such that it has only four folders namely (Sales, technical, office and Engineering) one access the specific public folder and right clicks on it.Properties is selected form the menu that results from right clicking the public folder. On the properties dialogue box the user is then required to click on the limit tab that gives him the options of choosing the number of folders and the maximum data size that the user allows to be stored in the public folder (Russinovich & Solomon, 2005). To ensure this the user must uncheck the Use public store defaults checkbox. After the user has set the relevant configurations they apply the setting and then click on OK to exit the window.

To create a policy that redirects the entire content of each user to my documents in an operation that is visible to the server, the folder must be made mobile (Russinovich & Solomon, 2005). To make the my documents folder mobile, the user right clicks on it and clicks on the share option. Furthermore, setting permissions at this phase is necessary to improve on the integrity of the data. After this the user opens the active directory users and computers consoles then right clicks on an account and selects Properties Command from the resulting menu.

On the first field which is the profile field the profile path is entered as ServernameSharenameMy Documents and then the OK button is clicked (Russinovich & Solomon, 2005). This starts the roaming process. The next phase is the redirection process which is done after roaming has been enabled for all files in the network. To start the redirection process the user goes to the group policy editor then to the user setting and windows settings which aid the direction to the folder redirection window.Click on the settings tab and set it to basic, go to the target folder location dialogue box that is right below the settings dialogue box and choose on create a new folder for each user under root path. The next step is typing the servernameuser on the root path dialogue box and then clicking on the apply button.

Configuration to make one a member of the domain: The user has to select My computer from the start menu. From the computer menu, click on select domain and then on the domain name one wishes to add to and then OK is clicked (Russinovich & Solomon, 2005).Then computer is accessed as before and then Add to Domain is selected and a dialogue box appears where the radio button to add the machine is checked and the machine name provided before the add button is clicked (Russinovich & Solomon, 2005). Configuration of remote desktop functionally: To ensure the remote configuration of the machines the program files are accessed by clicking on the start menu then to computer from which the hard drive is opened and the program files accessed (Russinovich & Solomon, 2005).

It is in these program files that changes are made that enable the system to behave in a manner that suits the needs of the user who requires the remote configuration (Russinovich & Solomon, 2005). Configuration of ISP LAN host: To do this the user clicks on the start menu and then the control panel from where the open network and internet window by double clicking on it (Russinovich & Solomon, 2005). The next phase is clicking on the Set up and change wizard and then following the instruction provided by the wizard depending on whether is is a configuration or an installation (Russinovich & Solomon, 2005).Configuration of VPN access from host to domain controller: To make this setting the user clicks on the start menu and then clicks on the menu item 'control panel'. On the control panel window the user double clicks on administrative tools and then opens the Configure your server wizard (Russinovich & Solomon, 2005).

On the resulting window, the options tab is clicked followed by custom configuration and then next. On the server role window the remote access is clicked followed by next and then OK.
