America is known for the freedom and opportunities that this country has to offer, which is the main reason why a majority of immigrants migrate here from a variety of countries. Usually the type of immigrants that do come to America are the ones with dreams, the ones who have a goal in life, want to become somebody, therefore causing them to work hard even at a low-paying job.

I believe that immigration does contribute to a better American for various reasons. As cliche as it sounds, this country is known as the land of second chances. We have been the collection point for all types of people. The pilgrims were silenced voices, so they emigrated. The Europeans as well were in search of a better life which led them to emigrating too. What defines an immigrant anyways? They usually speak little to no English.

Their cultures may be different and they may not want to adjust to the American culture right away. They also tend to be drawn to neighborhoods that include people who are similar to them. This leads to clustering and adding to the ghetto-ization of cities. Sometimes these communities can lead to criminality.Despite all that, they do provide us with several advantages. For example, they are always willing to work hard regardless.

They are willing to take on jobs that other Americans would refuse to take because of the salary that they would be making. We as citizens are always complaining that these illegal immigrants are taking away our jobs. As it says in the article,”just as women did not deprive men of jobs when they entered the labor force too, foreigners don’t cost Americans their jobs—they don’t just take jobs; they create them too. ” This is how it works.

When they spend their wages, they boost the demand for the people who produce the goods and services that they consume; and as they work, they stimulate demand for Americans in contemplementary lines of work. We as American workers gain a lot from immigrants that come to America. Since immigrants are different from Americans, they rarely compete directly with them in the labor markets. They are mainly always complementing their efforts. They have yet to find any evidence that proves the statement that states immigrants harm American workers.

We just always fear things will go wrong in the economy or that these immigrants will lead to some type or terrorism. That isn’t always the case. As hard as it is to believe, immigrants do contribute to a better America. We need to stop worrying about all the economic problems that may happen and stop thinking crazy. Just like it states in the article, “Opening up our borders would spread freedom, widen opportunity, and enrich the economy, society, and culture.

In otherwise it would make America a better place. ”
