Death is the only certain thing that will happen to every individual and because of its certainty, most people are afraid of death.
However, in the poem, the author tells us that death should not be feared. Indeed, death is the end of all man, the rich, the poor, the good, the bad etc. but as the author suggested, it is a way for a new life, an eternal life where death will no longer have hold on us and death will die itself. The only way to conquer death is to die in order to be reborn not of the flesh but of the spirit.
Thus, it can be said that the poem was intended to encourage the readers to have faith and be free from the fear of death. It is a point of view from a spiritual perspective and thus we can say that the author is a spiritual person. Must death really not be feared? I believe that death should and should not be feared. Just as the author suggested, a person should not be afraid to die however, it is those around that person who should be afraid for that person since they are the ones who will be left behind. It is the thought of not being able to see him/her again that should be feared.
For this reason, from a spiritual point of view, we should keep in mind that dying is not a loss for the person but rather, it is a gain. By dying we leave many things in this world but it also through dying that we gain greater things, things that are eternal. Therefore, death, be not proud for you will be conquered, through you we can live forever. Death, be not proud for you are not to be feared fro you are not the end of man. Death, be not proud!
