‘’Higher Education can be luxury, it’s an economic imperative that every family in America should be able to afford’’ -Barack ObamaIn these days college education is essential to be successful in life and work. With a college degree we can get a better job, have a higher salary and most importantly, be proud of a big achievement that sets a good example for our children. College education can open new doors to a better life, a wealthier one. We can afford things that some time ago were dreams.
Like a house of our own, or a new car, or a vacation to Europe. College education was always my dream. At first I didn’t attend college because I thought it was beyond my abilities. I also wasn’t able to go because of my financial situation, and when all that was under control other things got in the way. Back where I’m from, college was for honors students. Everyone else ended their education with a high school diploma.
I was one of the students who got a job right after high school. I started working because of my financial situation, which is another reason to why I postponed my college education. Secondary education was very expensive and even when I started working the amount of money I made was barely enough to support my family. With only little hope in my heart I had to suspend my dream yet again. My mother supported me constantly, telling me to never give up on my dreams.
One of my dreams was to have a family of my own. I had to raise my kids on my own because of my husband’s work schedule postponing my college education even farther. One day I learned about online education. It was the opportunity I was looking for; being able to stay at home to take care of my kids and study at the same time was a miracle. I felt like my life was just about to begin and a new door to my future had opened.
With my families support I enrolled in Ashworth College I choose an associate degree in early childhood education for my career. This degree will help me reach my goal to become a childcare center director. I also need two years of experience as a daycare provider. I will be able to complete both at the same time. A while ago Completing my college education to get a degree was a farfetched dream and now all my dreams are about to come true.
College education is changing my life for the better.‘’Live as if you were to die tomorrow. ‘’ ‘’Learn as if you were to live forever.’’ –Mahatma Gandhi
