Cars, a necessary transportation tool, are becoming more and more significant in our modern society. Using a car is faster than taking a bus especially when time is limited. It does not have to stop as frequently as a bus, and at the same time, it is much easier to keep to a tight schedule. However, some people argue that cars cause a series of problems, such as air pollution, energy crisis. As far as I am concerned, cars have a greater beneficial effect on the society.
To begin with, the advantage of cars is that they have influenced the development of society. According to the report released by China Daily, approximately 76 percent of people prefer to own a car. A car will certainly get you where you are going faster, and in doing so it will reduce the pressure on you and your work schedule. With the increasing numbers of cars, big cities are faced with a serious problem, traffic jams.No doubt cars consume a large quantity of energy, gasoline and electricity, both of which cause air and water pollution. If we continue wasting these energies, it is hard to imagine life in twenty years time. Increasing animal extinction, food shortages, and health worse than before. How could we live in such a society? Last but not least, governments should take some effective measures to control the number of cars with the intention of conserving energy and solving traffic problems.The government should ask people who drive cars to pay a fee in busy city streets where heavy traffic is ever present.
Secondly, raising the price of gasoline and electricity will probably lead to people voluntarily conserving energy. In addition, providing free public transportation is a long-overdue strategy. All of these policies provide a useful way to relieve the pressure of cars. Although air-planes move at a greater speed and do not add traffic problems, they still cannot compete with cars, as the car is becoming an essential tool in our life.
